Default Looking for an EA6-B

Morning all,

I've apparently gotten a little bit of the jet bug as apparently I don't already have enough airplanes. I suspect I'll go with EDF's for now. I've started small and am working my way up and looking at a possible conversion of an older BVM Viper kit into an EDF. One model I am very interested in is the Navy's EA6-B Prowler. My reasons are that a family member flew it in the first Gulf War and for some time after and also because I like it. I haven't seen a kit of this airplane though. Is there one of decent size on the market? Being a twin I know it won't be for a new jet flier like me but it isn't something that I'll complete for quite a while. If there is a kit out there I'd like to take a look at it and see what I'm getting myself in to. If it isn't something suitable for electric that's ok, I'd still like to know about it. Thanks.

I too am thinking of going EDF with the Der Jet prowler seeing the 100 JF will do around 17 lbs of thrust installed and two of em would put out 34 lbs and Push the model just fine.

My concern is the outlet diameter of the exhaust, that more defines what fan that will fit than anything

If you are going to go EDF first, I can highly recommend the Freewing Avanti 80mm. You won't find a better flying one or an easier landing one than this. Tons of power on the stock setup. Just a great everyday flier.

Just food for thought on the guys thinking electric, I have nothing against that but these larger heavier scale type jets may not be the best for electric. Turbines are getting pretty reasonable and it maybe something to consider if you would eventually like to go turbine. Its not hard super simple now with install and running, I know a bunch of people in Texas and Alabama who are more than willing to help get that waiver.
AND no im not saying this because I am the Jets Munt turbine guy just an opinion and some experience with electrics. Plenty of folks here willing to help as well!

EDFJime would be a great person to talk to about the big electric jets, he had an F-14 that he did electric but went to turbine. Good luck and welcome to jets!

Choice of Electric is due more to distance to+ flying sites than technology or cost, electric propulsion isn't going to be 75% less turbine after 19 lbs of thrust.

Most don't mind 20% off of flying time or speed vs having to travel hours or only flying on the weekends or not at all if there are no turbine fields in the area.

I've flown a 1/5th scale F-16 pretty decent authority electric so the larger models can be flown, just takes a little engineering in fan placement.

The models today are lighter and stronger now while heavy carbon cells and stable 24s ESC's allow for 40 lbs fans.

Cool Deal Bud just a throwing out ideas, I have seen some guys do some pretty cool stuff with Electric and I wish I knew more more about electric stuff. Anything electrical is my kryptonite! Good luck, I was told there are some A-6 intruders on the boards but thats just word of the mouth. I would give anythign for a 1/5 size like the orig Mibo one!
