Default ? Gyro for Delta elevons and canards

Hi,

What would be a good gyro for a Delta with elevons and Canards? For pitch and roll
(specifically C-ARF Eurosport Evolution, straight pipe)

Standard servo setup with single 2.4GHz Rx

I've lost touch with what is current and available.

Thanks.

Found this days this 3 axis gyro and seems to be very interesting, as it has a automatic gain control.. don´t know if any othey have this clever feature:

As a bonus, It also has a anti-crash mode! :-)

I have used this unit, it works well, I like the fact that the gains are independently adjustable, I think I paid US$75 for it.

I'm using iGyro in standard Euro straight pipe Kingtech 210 and is awesome when gyro enabled whole different model to fly. feels 100% more stable. no wing rocks, cross winds landings great.

Matt, you are the guy! I will give a try in this unit too. Found it just for chance, browsing for gyro tech on the web.

This is why I think that it would be worth to give a shot to this gyro.I think It has the potential to be the safest and easiest to setup for jets.

I have a Euro with all the same stuff as you and I put a Cortex in it. Set up was super simple with the delta wing and canard setup. Didn't take much time to get it going and works perfect.

Joe are the canards linked into the cortex or just the elevons

I agree I got 3 of these IceMan gyro in my skymaster f15 1/9, and Top Flite Gaint P40, and FW190

I really love its flexibility and how it can cut your reciver channel's needs down

Having gains on each axis is important to me as my war birds have the gains on high on the rudder and mid on elevator and ali but the f15 is low on ali and mid on elevator and rudder

I want to try it out on my eurosport also but I don't know.

Im still not sure how to set the iceman on the dekts wing yet

As the iceman only gives you 2 slots for elevator but when running in delta mode you are putting one elevon in the elevator slot and one in the ali slot. So this leave one open elevator slot open for the canards

Is this how to cortex works?

On the Cortex, you simply connect the channels to be stabilized (up to 5), matching the order of the inputs and outputs, then run the setup procedure. There is no specific aileron, elevator or rudder channels. You simply setup your transmitter and receiver to operate the controls as desired and when you perform the setup procedure, the Cortex determines the controls and what needs to be done to stabilize them..

Cool. Ya the iceman. Has 2 slots for elevator, ali, rudders. I like when you use it for elevator and you need one reversed you reverse the one elevator servo in the gyro so you only use one elevator signal from the reciver.

Im sure the cortex dose to. You can also adjust subtrims in the gyro controls.

I would of tried it on a delta but all the freaking snow is not helping

You don't need to reverse anything when using the Cortex. It knows from the setup procedure what direction to move the controls to stabilise the model. If you wanted to, you can plug each elevator and each canard in to a different Cortex output and still have one stabilised channel left for the rudder

Or, if you wanted to use a vector pipe, you could have each elevon plugged in to an output, the vector pipe pitch and yaw servos into 2 more outputs and the rudder in to the last available channel. The Cortex really is very flexible.

The Cortex sounds very good indeed.

My radio kit is standard Futaba Fasst, I don't use the bus system. So maybe the iGyro is not suitable for me.

I plan to wave the two wing servos set up as elevon delta.
The Canard servo function will be switchable: fixed off, preset pitch for take off and landing, pure elevator mixing.
Rudder
Nose wheel steering
So that makes 5 channels.

I don't know if the cortex has inputs to set gain or enable each channel. RTFM if I can find a PDF to download.

Siclick, I'll be in touch....
