Hi all
Im trying to get my GSU to read an old blue can P80 version 4 ECU. (I didn't even know they made a blue JetCat motor. I thought all anodizing was purple)
I plugged in everything but the fuel pump and the valves and the GSU still shows no data. What is the minimum needed to be able to read data from a JetCat engine setting on the bench.
So far, I have a good data cable from turbine to ecu, the glow plug power wire, good battery going to ecu, plugged in a receiver, tried to plug in fuel pump, it just went wide open, still no data display.
Any ideas?
Thanks Steve

Blue can means its really old !! sounds like you have either a bad data cable or some wiring wrong . Do you have a proper charge on the ecu battery, and you must also have power on the throttle lead from the rx as well . Do you get and backlighting on the gsu data screen or is it dark? There is no minimum speed it works the same with the engine off as it does at full rpm.

Thx for getting back. Soon as you said throttle channel I went back and saw I had a valve plugged into the throttle channel and not the throttle. Fired right up when I plugged in the throttle to receiver. Thx again for the help bro.
So if anybody has searched as long and as hard as I have, to find out what the minimum is needed to make a JetCat GSU display data, the answer is, a data cable, the throttle hooked up to a working receiver, and power to the ECU.

Jetcat engines were first imported to the US int 1997-98 by Golden West models (the same Golden West who built and sold the FD3-67 engine). The engines that were imported by Golden West all had blue covers, I think they went to the purple covers after Jetcat-USA was formed.
I had serial #0017 P-80 that I bought from GW, and it had a blue cover. It finally had to be retired around 2005, but I kept my blue cover for the P-80 that replaced it.
