Maj. Woody's Ultra Flash

Hi Guys.
I am moving along nicely with this build and now have the pipe installed, the turbine mounted and bypass mounted. I have not cut the holes in the bypass for the turbine connections yet since I have a question about the orientation of my Cheetah SE. I asked this question in the Turbine Support Area but I thought I would post it here also.
The manual with my Cheetah SE says that it is recommended to mount the turbine with the name facing up (top of the model). I did that for my last Flash but I did not like how my turbine connections were orientated and I actually had to make a cut out in the wing seat to clear the fuel line.
If I were able to mount the turbine in the Flash so that the name is facing down when the model is on its wheels (turbine upside down) I would have better flexibility for the turbine connections given the the wing position in the flash.
So when the model is on its wheels is it OK to have the turbine upside down? I am guessing the biggest concern here is startup since we fly upside down all the time with no issue.
Thanks for the help!
Dom

If I could figure out how to post photos from my Mac I would.

Thanks. I did just that for my last Flash but did not like how the position of the fuel line was. I needed to notch out the wing to clear it. A 90 degree festo fitting would have helped. I would like to see your install and connections if you can post it.
thanks,

My Ultra Flash with the Kingtech K-140 in it has the 90 degree Festo on it. Kingtech gives you a couple of extra Festos for that purpose. I did not have to notch the wing at all. I did oval out the bypass and slit a short piece of Tygon to wrap around the clear Festo fuel line to protect it from the bypass as it was just about up against it.

The fit and finish was not as good on this kit as it was on the Aggressor. The usual blemishes...mostly on the bottom. The one thing that concerns me though is the wing dowl holes in the fuse. See how they appear to be located wrong and then just filled in with glue? I cant tell if this is just the fuse skin or the ply doubler behind it as well. Using a dental mirror I noticed there was not as much glue mounded up on the carbon tubes as compared to the other kit. I may ad some more. Also I initially could not get the wing on. I had to taper the very ends of the carbon tubes so the dowels could slide in on the required angle. Should I be worried about the structural Integrity of this? Dave you have built a lot of these have you seen this before?

That looks great Dom. Very nice!. I did this one up a few years ago based on BV with my own touch here and there and love the scheme. Its very easy to see but was a huge job to paint. This is the Classic Flash. (also to Sean McHale for his article on the BVM Viper done in this scheme)

Thanks, that's Fist of the Fleet from the VFA-25 fighter group. I did a mixture of things.. this plane was originally a Jolly Rogers scheme so an homage to VF-84 also.
Regarding the dowels, I think as long as the fiberglass area surrounding the general area is not compromised you'll be fine. If back of it can accept and inlay of fiberglass nicely, I might do that.

Wow I have not posted in a while. I have been so busy building. I have not missed a day since I started this build on October 12th!
The Aggressor is almost done. I have done a tremendous amount of work and will post some photos soon.
What has held me up was building the cockpit. Just fun scale like last time. Its all scratch built including the decals and images. But wait! I needed to build two of them. That sucked. Here are some photos but I will post more later.
