Default Skymaster Dragon vs CARF Flash

Hey guys, well after helping my buddy get his turbine waver with a Avian Scorpion XL, I was very impressed. I have a few scale jets, but never a sport jet.

So I'm looking around for a cheap sport jet, it turns out I already have the prolink gear for the Skymaster Dragon, but have always loved the Flash. Never flown either.

So how would you say they stack up against each other?

I think the dragon is bigger so I would think it will be slower with a 31 pound Jetcat

Your thoughts?

there is no comparison .... the flash will fly circles around the dragon. You would rip the wings off of a Dragon before coming even close to the flight envelop of an Ultra Flash ....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8VP4TjRlNI As for calm slow pattern type flying, both are good planes.

Well you asked for opinions...

I have had both, the Dragon and the Classic Flash (still have the flash), as other have stated there is no comparison if you want overall performance and durability. I sold the Dragon as I didn't need it along with the Flash.

I would recommend the Flash hands down, it is built like as strong as a battle ship but doesn't have the weight.

The dragon flew fine, but I made a decision to move it out and keep my trusty Flash...
As far as the comment on the snapping of the Ultra, I can not comment as I don't have that wing, I can tell you I set up all of my Jets with about 3 mm of crow in an effort to reduce the tendency to snap at very low landing speeds, I found that out with the JL T-45, talk about snapping....

I don't know anything about the Dragon, but my buddy has a Classic Flash and I can't imagine the Dragon would be better. I've seen him stall it on landing, roll off into the uncut tall grass at our field and just abuse the thing in general. A couple of times I've accused him of trying to kill it, he has yet to succeed. It flies great and is built like a tank. This summer he sent the P120SX, that's been in it since day one, for bearing service after something like 36 hours, hard to stop flying when nothing's wrong.

Hi,
I have a flash and have flown a Dragon as well. Performance, Weight & Speed its the flash. The Dragon is bigger and easier to see but will snap if you are not careful. Both are good but my vote is the flash

Good Luck

Classic flash gets my vote. I have both classic and ultra and the classic is more stable. Both would leave the dragon for dead.

Ultra Flash for performance.
Dragon for easier landing

Never had a Dragon, yet a friend had one which flew and landed great, but in my opinion construction was heavy and lesser quality, none of them is pretty, I find the flash to be less ugly, had 2 classic flashes and currently have an ultra, landing is my worst skill, and find the ultra to be super forgiving, actually have never had a bad landing with it (snapped the two classics) if an ultra snaps, it has the wrong CG, this actually happened to the first owners who used the factory CG, once CG was corrected problems went away, yet you cannot allow deviations from this CG

Wouldn't it be a better comparison to compare the Flash and the Bandit since the Flash and Dragon are so different? that is like comparing an F-5 to a L-39. Me...I'll take the T-One.

They have somewhat the same shape and took 35 pound motors.

if you meant Bandit then yes I have read they are very similar.

I have seen a lot of new sport jets hit the market I was just wondering if anyone has step up the game and raised the bar

Don't have the dragon but have the Ultra Flash and had the classic flash. Seen the dragon fly also. Ultra flash hands down if you had to choose between the Dragon and the Ultra/Classic Flash. The flight envelope is not comparable. I also have the BVM Bandit MKII. I would say the Bandit MkII is a fine tuned Ferrari where the Ultra flash is a nice Corvette Z06.

Both
I agree with you that if the CG is set right there should be little tendency to snap.
