Default Setting proper turbine/pipe distance

a few years ago i came up with this pipe tool to help pipe to nozzle alignment . it also acts as a distance tool . i was concerned about getting it just right to avoid problems. my question is ... is 1" the proper distance from turbine nozzle to pipe end? if u use the tool ,that's what i come up with. the tool was originally for a vampire but the pipe dia. between the two is the same. just wondering.
