Fly Eagle Jets Hawk 2.66m Build

Joe, I see some things that are typical to fej, some bad glue joints, they have cut too much from bulkheads that will cause them to crack. The biggest issue with this particular jet is seeing how the bracket is built into the stab. This was the major failure point before, plus seeing inside the wings and stabs checking glue joints. Not trying to be negative but you wanted this type of info, the honeycomb skin they used wasn't the problem it was them using it for bulkheads and ribs. People seeing new materials for the skin is the wrong way to look, they have changed that but all the other issues are still there. I try to bring that up with folks but they cant see past the honeycomb. These were things I didn't see until I had built other kits with correct layups. You're were I was six years ago, I have no doubt it can be built and flown successfully its just going to take some beef up and checking internals.

This is how I know they haven't changed, not sure whats even going on here, is this for holding the pipe or just bad cutting. Plus the gear ply mount is split and will need to be fixed or the gear will tear out on the first hard bump.
Joe just be be careful, make the repairs and make sure you check the inside of the wings and the stabs. The aluminum cross beam on the stabs needs to extend almost halfway into the stab, the old ones didnt go in very far and would come apart in flight. I would be curious to see how the metal crossbeam is connected to the stab itself as well.
this looks like the bulkhead next to the stab mount, which should be beefy for strength but you can see they cut too much from it and some areas are very thin. Make some ply bracing to beef up the thin areas.

Your Welcome Robert. One area that I can see is the front nose gear mount. I need to add a little martial to it. another section that I see is the ribs are a little thin but That's an easy fix by beefing up with some extra ply. As I go If I feel that areas need to be addressed I will add it on here.

Thanks again Keith for all the support you are giving me. This is what I need and Hope that I get from other. I want to make sure its good to go and I hope that we as modelers can come together and make this one a great flying Jet. I agree that the piece that holds the pipe has been cut back a little to much but they also sent another piece of ply that looks to butt up to it that will add support to the pipe. I will add the picture soon. I will take closer look at the gear joints and see what I can do.

the other piece holds the pipe and attaches to the bulkhead via screws, if you look at the bulk head you can see the holes for the screws but it looks like one side has been cut so close the screw hole is half gone. Like I said man not trying to bring a guy down, just hoping I can help you get this bird in the air and enjoy it. Hawks seem to fly really well and are very popular for that reason I think.

My Brother in-law is coming your way, he's a travel nurse and will be working at the Army hospital there. Jai Cunningham is another in-law that has fox morning show there as well, lucky ******* got to join the 9 G club when the thunderbirds were there a couple years ago.

Not sure yet. First need to fix some items on it then put it all together. I sent FEJ a message about some items that I need some replacement parts such as the bulkhead in the tale section were the pipe runs through. They took out too much material so need to replace that. One of the front nose wheel brackets is split. That one I may just cutting myself and replacing.

I was thinking the same thing. I usually come off as an ***** here due to my dislike of FEJ, so I intentionally refrained from posting on this thread. What I have seen here is the quality has not improved any from all of the other FEJ aircraft that fall apart in flight and end up smoking holes in the ground. I mean no disrespect by this question, but why would any sane person buy an aircraft that they know will not survive flight without major structural redesign? What if you miss one problem? What if this thing gets loose and injures someone? Somewhere along the line the owner of the aircraft has to assume liability.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Hey Joe that new bulkhead is what I was talking about, I would take the new one they are sending you and use it as a template to cut a new one and cut smaller holes so you can thicken the Weak areas

So Here are a few more pictures of what I got done so far. The saddle tanks are just placed in there. I am going to make them removable by adding brackets. I needed them in there to get the length of vent line for both.
