Michigan Jet Rally 2020
The Michigan Jet Rally is being held June 11-13, 2020. This event is a turbine and EDF jet rally. But you never know what shows up at the Baldwin RC Park. Last year, two full-scale L-39s showed up!
We have a 3800' paved runway with paved RC ramps and a 400' paved pit row with the sun to your back all day!
Above is a link to our Baldwin RC Park video which shows our event site and the many activities that happen during the course of our 5 annual events.
Come join our jet family.
Attached below is a flier.
For more information about the Lake County Modelers and Flyers and our annual events please check out our website at www.LCMFA.com

We do Not require pre-registration for the event. We are kind of laid back up here.
Having reservations for the motels is smart though! We frequently fill them up.
Coming from IL, I bet I know who you are coming with. Nick and/or Sebastian. Right? You will have a great time up here with them. We are one big jet family, Welcome to it!
If you have any other questions, please feel free to call (907) 903-3569

Well it looks like the Michigan Jet Rally is going to be the first jet event to be a Go after the virus. We will be changing a few things from past years, but we expect to have a full rally. CDC guidelines will be in effect. With pit our row length recently doubled in length to 400’ we should be able to do this safely! However, if you are sick, please stay home. We only have 2 cases of virus up here and want to keep it that way.
We are planning that folks personal distance 6’ from each other. So, please bring your own face covering. When we get closer than 6' to each other, it is recommended that a face covering be used. For example; Everyone is typically a spotter, so everyone occasionally gets close to their pilot, etc.. However, given the highly questionable effectiveness of a face covering, it is up to you and your pilot if and when it is used, etc.. I am not going to be the face covering police!
I talked with the sheriff. They are NOT enforcing any of the governor’s current mandates. The legality of her current EOs is highly questionable and no agency up here wants to get entangled in costly legal issues, etc. This apparently includes the local State Police. So, I was told no one is going to get cuffed and stuffed or even ticketed for virus related issues/orders, etc..
Please let me know if you are coming or not. If the turnout is low, we will NOT be investing in the storage tent. That cost us over $1K. So we do not want to make another investment in the tent industry unless there are enough of us to make cost-effective use of it. Please send me an email if you plan to come at [email protected] so we can gage how many people are coming. If enough folks are coming, we may just get that tent. You may want to bring a large tarp to cover your planes. I did that a Joe Nall last year and it works great, especially if you have some tent pegs, just in case there is a high wind.
Food Service Plan: Plan A is for the restaurants to be open. However, you may want to pack some food in your cooler or plan to visit our grocery store. With our ever over-reaching governor, she may try to keep restaurants closed beyond her currently illegal May 28th end of order date. Truth is; Subway, The Village Restaurant, Dairy Queen and the Pompeii's Pizza have been open since day one. Pompeii's has a lot more than pizza. Dairy Queen has food. However, Government Lake Lodge, Ski’s and Chase Creek have not yet opened. That may change May 29th. Plan B is; we'll have a microwave and two grills out at the field anyway. There are donuts at Wesco Station. The grocery stores are open and well stocked. Whatever the case, we will be taking Pompeii orders around noon on Friday and Saturday and have your order delivered. This has worked great for past pylon races. Wesco has Kero. I am looking forward to one of Milton's and Garrett's steak dinners!
The motels are open for business. If you have a reservation and are NOT planning on coming, please call them and cancel as they are mostly booked and could most-likely still rebook that room if they have some reaction time. If you are coming and do not have a reservation, then it is time to get that reservation. They have been open since day one of the virus and have their cleaning routines well in place. But these last couple months have been hard on all our sponsors. So please do take advantage of their services, etc.
Outdoor Inn Tx# = (231) 745-3137
Batcke’s Baldwin Creek Lodge Tx# = (231) 745-4401
Whispering Oaks Campground Tx# = (231) 745-7152
So, ... please feel free to come join us. We can do this safely and still have fun!. Even if this event turns out to only be a mini-rally, we are still going to have a lot of fun! It is past time to burn some kero! For those that can’t come, here is a link to what you will be missing.
Be safe in your travels!
