It’s all petromat but its nice and smooth. Guys you don’t want to miss this one, if you can make it, it should be one of the best events you’ve ever been to. I spent an hour last weekend at the field talking to Dave about it and he’s really thought of everything and spared no expense.

More Info from Dave Long who is putting this event on...
Hi Guys,
Many of you “prop guys” might be a bit intimidated by jets……primarily because of the cost, not to mention the risk of failure.
At "Thunder in the Valley Jet Rally” on September 11, 12 and 13th at AMOS in Lincoln, we have eliminated BOTH reasons to NOT fly a jet for the first time.
We will have 2 professional pilots, with high quality turbine powered jets, set up for “buddy box flying”………...all 3 days at the event.
They will follow the same protocol as all other pilots. After the startup sequence and when instructed, the two of you will be given the OK to proceed to an open Pilots Station……..so you will be side-by-side with a pro. In addition you will have a spotter to insure a safe flight.
The pros will taxi, take off and land. He will talk through his first lap as he makes his way around the track, then flip a switch to give you control only when you are ready. At any point in time he can flip the switch again and take over, so you are "totally covered.” Just like we all did when we were first learning to fly.
When you are ready, you will take over at a higher altitude- making a few laps to get comfortable.
Then if you like you can drop altitude a bit. Who knows, you might just work your way down and make a high speed pass!!
Then after 5 minutes or so the pro will take over and land while you watch as he taxis back to the pits.
Because all pilots fly in a “race track” pattern, everyone is moving in the same direction and following the same footprint- so no chance for hitting another plane.
This is the PERFECT opportunity to see what a jet feels like and add this to the list of RC aircraft you have flown.
You have nothing to loose and everything to gain.
We will have a Buddy Box” sign up booth next to registration. Just add your name, AMA number and cell phone. We will call you as spots become available. Come to the booth, meet your pro and GO fly a JET!!
The only 2 requirements:
1) You must be a current AMA flying member
2) You must have a cell phone
Oh, and by the way….entry level jets, which are nicer than standard jets from just a few years ago, are much less expensive than you think, not to mention more reliable.
Come check us out.
Guaranteed- this will make your day!!

And we did have a mini jet event today, from 1 pm till sunset, including late lunch and drinks after the event.
Raffy, Nick, Kent and myself, we all had an excellent time today, I got there by 11 am the other guys showed up by 1 pm, then the action started with Nick flying his mini T 1, fallow by Kent with his Top RC F9F Cougar, then myself with Boomerang XL, fallow by Raffi with his Ultra Bandid on a ramaiden flight ( he overhauled the fuel system and added lights) then, repeated about 4 more times for each one of us.
We had a great afternoon, the winds cooperated nicely towards the late afternoon, all landings were good and everyone went home with their airplanes as they came.
We have to do this again soon, yeap! We went home late.

Shut! I totally forgot ( I was exhausted, had been up for 16 hrs when I posted last night ) Chance, our newest turbine waiver holder, he was the first to fly his jet ( a Joker ) on Fri, he comes from gas 3D, he is the perfect candidate to fly jets, his building skills are to perfection, he's also a cool guy and his cooking is one of the best I tried, because all that, it was very easy to sign off his waiver application.
Congratulations and welcome to the club.
