No cooling holes needed, but the hole in the rear fuselage/tailcone mating face needs opening to give a few mm all around. The ‘cool wall’ tube should not get too warm with the proper gap between inner and outer pipe at the rear and cooling NACA ducts at the front. It’s how the Thousands of Flashes made are flying (although the way RCU is atm someone probably thinks they know better 😉.)

This is what I have now: around 3-4mm of space between the tube and the fuse-tailcone mating face.
And a virtually airtight seal at the rear.
My thrust tube came pre assembled, the outer tube has 4mm of overhang over the inner tube at the rear.
Total overhang including tailcone is about 9,5mm.
I was thinking about magnets for gluing the canopy glass...glad to see I'm not the only one lol

In the process of putting together my UF.. I came across two sets (four pieces) of items pictures below.. I’m guess it has to do something with fuel tank installation but how ??
Thank you for advising….

In the early days I was concerned the tank would put a lot of load on the Velcro retaining blocks glued to the fuselage, or move around when full, stretching the Velcro strap. These were to go on the bottom of the tank to sit on the wing. In practice we have not had a problem so it’s your choice

Thanks Dave…. I though it had to do with tank installation…. I have decided to use some “Goop” on top of the tank and use some Velcro on the tank so the straps stick to it preventing tank from moving at all….
Appreciate quick response..
BTW .. when will you get your MIG17?…. Danny (F1 Rocket) will be working on mine.. we have the same paint scheme 😊

On mine I stuck Velcro to the tank that the strap goes over. That stops it moving around. It does need something at the front or back to stop it ‘swinging’ side to side.
Its on the water now, but with container delays in Europe and Brexit mess I’ll be lucky to see it for Xmas. Yes, I know you ‘stole’ 😉 my scheme. It’s one I spent ages looking for.

Finaly got mine today
and after unpacking in noticed that the thrust tube at the end the the pipe and outer pipe are near flush with each other and that the outer tube is about 1cm inside the tailcone so it will not hold it at the end

Which tailpipe design have you got? Show the whole pipe. On mine the cool wall was out the back of the tailcone. Have you opened the former hole in the rear fuselage?

Think i'm gonna redril the hole's in the outer pipe
and blank the wrong hole with a smal pop rivet
and the front of the bellmout is flush with the former
I did not have to open the hole in the former at the rear

The outer cool pipe does not actually need blanking, the small gap will actually work as it is, the difference should not be more than 10mm.
if you move the pipe back till the outer wall is flush with the tailcone, is the carbon bell mouth inside the rear wing former?

Hard to see bud the distance between outer pipe and inner pipe is about 3mm
and when the outer pipe is flush with the tailcone
The belmouth is not flus or hardly on the former
