Curious if you all do anything extra to attach the vertical stabilizer besides just the tube and leading edge bolt? The bolt holds my vertical down in the front but it’s not seating in the back half , not even close , I have a gap of almost a 1/4 inch . I can force it down with pressure and hold it down but it pops back up . I wanted to keep it removable but may have to hysol it in place permanently

Components:
Kingtech K235G4
PowerBox Mercury SRS w/ GPS
2 x Futaba 7108 RX's
Futaba 9177 Servos running @ 7.4 V
Electron ER50 retracts w/ GS-200 controller
5L fuel tank (may change to CMJets)
Futaba 32MZ

I can't even put the wings on in the house!

How about starting a new thread on this? I'd like to see that and maybe others would jump in with a thread on the Max.

Sheldon that's a good idea even though they are very similar but different.

Did you finish that Mephisto ?

Mephisto is still in progress, but just have to program the flaps and then program the gyro... so it is close. Been super busy.

Yeah, I don't believe there's much more than a 3 page manual to any of the Rebel airplanes. I can say, though, that assembly is very straight forward. There are a few nuances but the main thing is assemble for CG which should be at the back of the wing tube. The Rebel does have a decent CG range but I've heard that's the sweet spot. The manual I got was just little tips about assembling. Definitely no pictures or step by step but I don't think your friend will need it. Y'all could always use Zoom so you can see what he's working on.

he is looking to buy some stuff in advance of the plane's arrival.... servo horns for instance.... can you let me know the lengths needed? Does the plane come with hardware and if so is it any good?

Everything is pre-installed for you. Double carbon control horns are already there and the kit comes with some, certainly, decent hardware. Honestly, I don't know the lengths of servo arms that you need but certainly 30mm or less will cover it as that's what length the Rebel Max needs and 30mm is not really very long (1 1/4" ish). I'm sure you already know you only need tooth count to buy aftermarket aluminum arms i.e. Futaba, Savox and others use a 25 tooth spline. Not sure about all servos of course.

I'm sure someone here will be able to tell you exactly how long you'd need but, hopefully, that points you in the right direction. A little too long is no issue on these airplanes for sure. In fact, I wound up buying 38mm arms and they work perfectly for the Max. CARF recommended 30mm so there's some room for you.

Did the Maiden on my Rebel Pro a few weeks ago and it flys awesome ! It’s almost too easy to fly. It slows to a crawl with full flaps.
Kingtech K180g4+ For power. Dry weight came in at 35.5 lbs.

Thanks guys!
Definitely not Dave! I think most people would only fly foamies there lol. But it’s what we got and try to to make the best of it. Unfortunately the surrounding trees are outside of the land and no permission to cut down. My every Sunday flier is my BVM bandit mkII since 2014. But I think the Rebel took its place now! The Bandit seems to be a bit more challenging to land there compared to the Pro.

If someone has a chance, I need some pictures of the flap clevis/ball link setup and how they hook up to the horn/servo arms (and which ones to use). There are two silver clevis-type connectors that were in a separate bag in the wing parts bag. I'm assuming they go on the flap control horn. Detailed pictures of your linkage would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Scott

Scott,
On my max i used the two silver clevis's on the ailerons and they lined up with ball link in the dual control horns, on the flaps i had hardware for a ball link for the flap control horn and the servo arm. So the Flap linkage has a ball link on each end.

To be clear, you used the silver clevis's on the aileron servo arm and not on the dual control horns and you used a ball link on the dual control horns?

Would you have time to post just a couple of pictures of your setup on one wing? I understand what to do but want to make certain I get this correct. I really appreciate it.

I don't have any pics of that atm, but i used the silver clevis's on the aileron servo arms, and a ball link bolted to the dual composite control horns in ailerons. In my hardware package for the wing i only had two of the silver clevis's, and on mine when the ball linked is bolted to the flap control horn if you did have a clevis for the servo arm it would be angled instead of a straight shot. But a ball link bolted to the flap servo arm created a straight pushrod in my case if that makes sense.

Many thanks. That helps! Did you wind up grinding out the slot in the trailing edge to have clearance needed for the pushrod to the flaps? If so, did you go back and put some carbon fiber or anything around it?

I had some spare 3mm ball link from Carf so I put ball link on both ends. On the ailerons there’s a slight misalignment but nothing to worry about IMO. What I did do is these ball links have the spacer made on to them so the side that went up against the servo horn I filed that side down to have the ball link come closer to the arm.

So much of the servo arm alignment to the horns glued into surfaces depends on brand of servo and arm brand, i know mine with A6300's using the grommets etc and Hanger 9 arms lined up perfect.
