Default Tailpipe question

On a straight dual wall tail pipe, isnt the outer supposed to be extending past the inner pipe for airflow purposes?
my outer pipe is shorter at the rear, is this ok ?
im trying to upload a picture.
any advise on this ?

That won’t work. Does the outer slide?

How far does the inner pipe stick out of the fuse/tail cone? I had a similar issue with a replacement pipe and the inner was just too long. So I cut the inner off and they both came out even at the end of the tail cone.

It's not so much the fit, that's ok, I can keep the end within the nozzle.
im more concerned about the airflow not being sufficient between the pipes.

The question was more if there was a moulding of some sort to complete the outer?

Hi Dave,
no this is the complete pipe, nothing else with it.

The outer pipe should be about 10 mm. longer that the inner at the exit. That way gasses exiting the inner pipe create a vacuum that draws cooling air into the front of the outer pipe. The pipe as pictured might work but would run hotter than if it was made properly.

It's hard to tell from the picture but it almost looks like they welded the bellmouth onto the wrong end of the pipe. If it were me I'd contact the disributor/manufacturer and request a corrected pipe. If you had a picture of a proper pipe from their website that would help.

Joe

The inner protrudes each end, so it won’t work either way. What airframe?

It's a replacement for a top RC Cougar pipe
