Well, this is snipped from intro at the site in the link provided by the OP :
Basic references
The basic material to be used is factory drawings made by McDonnell Douglas from "Aviation Archives". The basic dimensions are from the general arrangements of sheet number 32-00005, and the cross-sectional shape is B/C/D/J model fuselage diagram (side, plane, cross section are drawn in one sheet). In addition, official manuals such as F-4A, F-4B & RF-4B-Structural Repair Instruction Manual are also important. The web site of "Tailhook Topics" by Mr. Tommy Thomason is also highly informative. Of cause, photographs of actual aircraft are important.

I have always found the plastic kit guys to be more on it than most realise, the shear number of modelers dwarf RC and there is not the 10k entry price.
Additionally they are working on a tiny scale and I have seem some work that is truly amazing.
Some of them even convert actual airframes with different parts from multiple kits to be super accurate.
So as above I will stick to the plastic guys as they are all over it.

Funny you should say that - there were some very switched-on "Plastic Kit" modelers at Wang last month - I thought that I had a good grasp of the history of one of my aircraft, however the Plastic model guys were even more knowledgeable when it came down to the history surrounding the type..

I did a complete model from MD drawings, however it was deleted inadvertently after 6 months work. This is what remained....
