Congrats! Yes indeed they are great flying jets. I have converted all my retracts to the 4mm jack screw motors. What motor?

Thanks@
my nose gear already had the 4mm from factory. Interesting.

Kingtech 142g4. not overpowered but plenty of power. I may need TO flaps the wheels are super draggy.

First flights since Joe Nall. This thing flys fast smooth and predictable and lands unbelievably smooth.

Hi,

I'm not familiar with these light controllers. How did you guys rig up your nose lights--mix them with gear?

That's one thing I never conquered. Mine come on/off with Rx power.

More great flights yesterday. This thing continues to amaze me with its performance. After I got the landing trim where I wanted it final approach is damn near hands off. Set your power for the glide slope and then its just keep the wings level. I'm looking forward to the Tiger Meet in Oct to really show it off.

It flys more like a sport jet

Rookie mistake yesterday. Let it get slow with a strong headwind. Nose gear mounts and left wing damaged. Just a PSA. As easy to fly and land as this thing is, it is still a 40# airplane. If your throttle is in idle in the traffic pattern you had better be asking yourself...WHY? Good news is that it is totally repairable. 2 weeks, 2 tubes of hysol and and 27 beers, and it should be good as new. All damage internal and won't change the looks when complete.

I have just recently come across one of the GJC F-86's. I was wondering with the guys that have a full season under their belts and Xicoy balancers, if you could get them back on the Xicoy scales and post a pic? It looks like my measurements are slightly different from the manual that came with it and the one that was posted by tp777fo above. I have 920mm from Mains to Nose gear. The 5mm isn't much, I realize. Also, we are shooting for the "CG to mains" number as the critical. However, I wanted to start at 440mm and my measurements for the distance from the "CG to the mains" using a plum bob from the wing root at 440mm and marks from the centerline of the wheel axes was 45mm. tp777fo was 95mm at 410mm CG. Doing the math from his for 440mm, mine should read 65mm? Maybe I am measuring from the wrong "Wing root" I measured at the split of wing and fuse and not true root, as the blend/fillet is hard to determine where to call it.

So I guess what I'm asking for, those of you that have flown it and determined that the original 400mm was to nose heavy and moved it back to 440mm-450mm and have a Xicoy balancer, would you mind sharing your numbers? This way I just plug them in and get mine to match. Good starting point and I can go from there.

The plane I bought had the batteries pulled out and I was told that it needed rebalanced because it was nose heavy. Manual had number scratched out and had 425mm-440mm written in it. However, I think that was from the 1st owner. That was then revised after flown by the 2nd owner who said it was still nose heavy and had written on the manual 440mm-450mm. Yes, I am now the 3rd owner. I just want to make sure I get it correct before I take her up. Thanks for the help

440-450 will be fine. It flys better with the aft cg. I have been balancing mine on a stand. Oh yeah...you will love it!

I use my Xicoy CG Machine as a "get it safe to fly" tool. After the first flight and airborne CG checks I just move stuff around or add/remove weight as necessary to get the feel I like. Sounds like yours is safe to fly so I'd recommend just go fly it and do a few CG tests in the air and adjust from there.

So without fuel, but otherwise balanced if you lift the nose and let the plane sit on the tail, will it sit there without falling back on the nosewheel? I have moved 3 of my batteries to above the tank, the Xicoy CG meter tells me I'm still nose heavy, yet when I let it sit on the tail, she doesn't come back down on the nosewheel. That seems odd. I have even built a Vanessa rig for the CG and it still seems slightly nose heavy.

Really would love to see Xicoy CG meter numbers from those who have them and like how the plane is flying. Not just the CG numbers, but the weights on the scales too. I'm getting only about 2lbs, or maybe less on the nose gear, which just seems very light. Something just doesn't seem/feel right about it. I have been building and flying for the majority of my life. So it shouldn't be this difficult, but something just doesn't feel right. I'm just looking for a sanity check. I know this may be ridiculed, or over analyzed, like I am over analyzing the CG, but seeing other scale numbers, including weights, "Dry" RTF would be very reassuring.

sorry never used scales built 2 of these so far one being the super scale version balanced them same way at the 445 mark using string . I balance all jets this way never an issue then adjust to your flying style
