I ordered a facet 1200 kit which is on it's way (hopefully).
This will be my 1st turbine installation in a model.
Got a question about the fuel system set up, afaik it uses 2 tanks, how are they rigged up, do I need a UAT or will a conventional "hopper tank" set-up be sufficient?
Which clunks should I use?
Thus far I ran the turbine only on a test stand.
Thanks in advance,
GJ

GJ, the Facet fuel system goes like this, the 16 oz. has the vented line coming out of the aircraft, it feeds the 40 oz. Dubro which feeds the UAT (or hopper) which feeds the fuel pump. This is all shown on the plans as well. You use the large fuel clunks. The 40 oz. Dubro comes with this clunk, but you will need one for the 16 oz. b/c it only comes with the small one. As far as a "needing" a UAT? It is not absolutely necessary, but I believe most would recommend it on any turbine aircraft, including myself. A conventional one could do the job though if you were so inclined.
Have fun with your Facet, you'll like it.

Thanks George,
Concerning the (open) vent line , any chance of fuel leaking out during (e.g. inverted) flight ?
Thanks,
GJ

No, this standard on turbine aircraft (open vent). The fuel system needs to "breathe" so the fuel pump can suck fuel or else you will collapse the tanks and eventually not draw any fuel. The only time it will leak is when you first pull off the taxi tank or if you flip the plane upside down then right side up again with fuel in it and it not running. Or as Terry mentioned, in transport (slightly)

Thanks all,
I did understand the tank needed venting, I was just curious if the fuel suction would overcome posible fuel leaking.
Thanks again for the answers guys,
GJ.

Hi all.
I have recently ordered a Facet from GNM (which is hopefully on da way), and this will be my first turbine. I've read quite a lot about the UAT and must have me one of these! But I live in Europe (Norway), and I cannot seem to find any resellers of this item here. Is it sold solely by BMV or does anybody know of any resellers elsewhere? Shipping, handling and customs is quite a lot to Norway, totals about $120, so...[:'(]

Hi,
Also loves the design - my Facet2300 will arrive at Simjet Denmark on Monday/Tuesday next week - and I'm really looking forward to building and flying it.
It's my first jet, and everyone in Denmark has given me the thumbs-up for choosing it over the "standard" Kangaroo...
Of course - the plane will be powered by a Danish turbine, a SIMJET 1700AES should do the job.

ECK:
Go to the JPO web-site, and you will find a "make-your-own" UAT that Steve Elzey put out. Designed by (Lockheed-Martin???) rocket scientists...it will set you back all of $5-6.00,and two hours of work. (It uses a Sullivan 2-0z. tank, and an wout fuel filter).
Works Great! and does the same thing as one of BVM's units, at a fraction of the cost.
I've been flying the &^% out of mine, and not a single problem.
