Default Something for RCU to consider

I have been very late in answering PM's lately simply because I never think about them. The new RCU needs a notifier like the old one had, at least something that changes the color of "INBOX" so you know when a new PM is in there. I feel bad when somebody sends me a PM because you hope it gets answered quickly and I've missed some by 2 weeks simply because I never think about it and it never says there is a new one.

Anyway, I suppose that is my only real complaint about the new RCU, there are certain things I liked better about the old one, but the only thing I really miss is the PM notification.

Jeremy - I've been asking for that for months - believe me, we mod's get far more PM's than anyone else (especially the comm' mod's), because every time someone reports a post, we get a PM about it ... and the reporting user expects the issue to be dealt with "now", yet we often don't even know that we have a PM waiting. So, you can rest assured that I have been beating Marc up about this shortcoming for a while, and will continue to do so until it is implemented.

BTW, there's a "suggestions" forum that Marc and the other top guys monitor - so you might want to post any suggestions you have in there - that way the "boss" sees it, instead of just us peons

In case it helps in the meantime - supposedly you can set your preferences to get an email and/or a pop-up window when a PM arrives. Neither of these suits my needs, but they might work for you in the short term while we wait for a fix.

Many of us are running pop-up killers, so that having notifications by pop-up is not a viable solution for us.

I run a pop-up killer too, but it doesn't kill off this specific window anymore...

in all honesty, I never looked in my preferences to set that pop up thing up. I hate pop up's, but at least it will let me know. I just preferred the old way where it said PM's and when you had new ones it was red and said new beside it. This will work for now I suppose.

I have mine do the popup also, I have also noticed that the inbox letters will be red if there are any new ones in there.

I just did a test, and the inbox letters showed up in green until AFTER I went into the inbox just on the off-chance that there was a new PM (which there was). Not much use.

weird, mine just stay the same dark blue that they always are. They go red when I am actually IN the inbox, but they don't change when there is a new one in there. [:-]
