Default sub micro turbine development?

Does anyone know if there is any development being done on turbine engines that are smaller then the current models? I was thinking it would be cool to have a turbine for a 30-35" wingspan jet.

Trumpetheli,

Check out the magazine section of RCU. In my article on microturbines there is some info on what's being done relative to smaller turbines. Skip to the end of the article for this info. I'm not aware of any commercial development of these tiny engines as yet, though.

Here's the link:

Cool article. I'm new to the turbine scene ( I don't even own own yet), but the wife gave the go ahead to save up for one. The wren mw 44 looks perfect for my application. I was not aware that there is a production model turbine that small! My plans are to put it in a DJ-3, modified for the engine and fiberglassed. I have a lot of experience with RC planes and a small amount of skills with helicopters, I consider myself a fairly competent pilot. Do any of you have words of wisdom in regards to making the transition from prop to turbine? I would appreciate any advice.

Cool article...
I'm glad you liked it. I hope to see smaller turbines commercialized as well, although small size may not necessarily translate to lower prices, which is what I'd like even better!

Thanks,
Paul

Unfortunately I hava not researched clubs up here in Vancouver, im from California studying at UBC. There are jet guys up here? Thats great. Im interested in getting into turbines but cost is just too high for a grad student. (I mistook pounds for dollars on the Wren website, oops!) Looks like ill be sticking piston jets for a while. I am learning to fly helicopters, albeit carefully since the post about the accident in Texas.

I would love to see you guys fly your jets sometime, im in kits.
