Hey guys, I was just looking through soma AMA magazines for an article, and in the front section that is reseved for showing off builders' new creations, I couldn't help noticing that I never see any jets there. To me, jets are a work of art as I'm sure they are to many of you, and many of you have absolutely gorgeous planes. Do you guys ever send in pictures to the AMA to have put in there? If not I highly encourage you. There is nothin like good old jet photagraphy... I think many others would enjoy seeing your new creations and it may even snag a few newcomers and get them hooked. LOL

Mike,

Im lucky enough to be able to watch the full scale Demo F-16 from Lockheed from the flight line during show season. The most impressive manouvers are hihgh AOA slow flights to full vertical, while performing offset rolls (almost like snap rolls). Not only that, imaging this thing almost at the verge of stall pulling up and doing a square loop, while rolling. This is what motivates me to get a powerful jet.

The cons: AMA does not allowe more than 1 to 1 power/weight ratio, which will most likely be required to pull of manouvers like these. But, who can tell if you have more than this 1-1 ratio on your airframe?

I know the full scale F-16 demo routine off the top of my head and Im currently practicing it on me DF F-16, but power is a limitation.

Would anybody lend me their JP4 powered F-16?

In 12 days they do.

Actually, they "old" rules have allowed it for years. If a speed limiter is used, the thrust to weigth limit does not apply.

Oh men, now you really got me tempted to get a jet.

Can anyone lend me a jet just to try it out?

At I least I tried.[]

Actually, in 12 days the rules will allow you (as long as you are a AMA member) to fly a turbine on a buddy box (with the master transmitter controlled by a waivered pilot) without a waiver. If you come to some jet rallies this year I'm sure we can hook you up with someone who will let you "wet your whistle".
I would be more than happy to let you buddy box on my Bobcat, but unfortunatley my 10SX transmitter does not have that capability.

the real jets can do a lot more. I know there has to be some very good jet pilots out there so what about crazy slow high AOA fly bys or any aerobatics? Mike
Mike, download this video, and watch the last couple of minutes, http://www.giantscalerc.com/images/a...ample_jets.wmv. Or go to my website at www.GiantScaleRC.com, and you'll find it on the Misc page with some other videos.

Gee Kevin, thanks I was only kidding. I would never ask anyone for a ride, just out of respect.

I will go to the Austin Rally this year, just to get my feet wet.

Steve,

If you click on the "settings" button, you have the option of uploading a custom avitar. It is called "My Avitar", it is half way down the page.

It is the button beside your inbox.
