JetCAT engines are really good!!!

I logged 8 flights on my roo last weekend. This is my first jet (roo) and it has the p120 on it. Man...what an engine!!! Guys at the field were totally shocked to see the ease of use and reliability of this engine. I did not even bother to use the GSU more than once, as it would start perfectly each time. No wet starts, no flame outs, no nothing. Everything was so spot ON. I could hear the pop within the first 5 seconds EACH time. I am using regular cooking gas (LPG), which is 60% butane. I am totally amazed and impressed. These engines have really made jet flying a pleasure. I am so glad I decided to get the p120. I hope the other jetcat engines are as reliable as the p120. My next one shld probably be the p70.

Merry Christmas to all on this thread,
Anurag, welcome to the JET FLYERS CLUB. Keep flying buddy and happy landings.
Paul, I think Simjet already has the supersport in production, they call it 1200SP. I think I'll go for one for my Vigilante.

no its not the same engine, the Supersport is only a 54 mm engine, basically the same size and weight as the normal 54, same rpm, but re-designed inside, boosted power by 50% from 12 to 18 pounds! a friend of mine has been flying a test one this year in a BVM Sabre, he was over in the USA just recently at Florida jets. This engine seems to break all the rules, absolutly amazing.
And a merry christmas to you all!

That's great news!!
If this true, that this engine is boosted by 50% in power, then may be the other turbines can be increased in power by a similar amount?
Do yo know how they got this incredible increase in power? I also assume the fuel consumption went up by about 50%? Temprature increase?

Hi guys,
The 1200 is a 54 made by Simjet under agreement with Wren. The 1200 SP is again the same 54 with boosted output. It produces a clean 70 to 75 N out of the same case and weight.
Now, the new Supersport might be a totally new beast as I read on the Wren website.

The new Jetcat P70 is fully reviewed in the forthcoming edition of RCJI. The following edition will have review of the P200 and the Wren Supersport will also be reviewed as soon as it is available. (now that others have revealed its existence !)

hello David
Happy christmas!
Yes they are taking orders for the Supersport, there is nothing like it on the market at the moment.
Are you coming to the UK this year?

Thanks Dave
Never went to Abingdon, had to work i am afraid.
I heard it was a great day, and the little Wren 44's performed really well, Dave flew his 262 with 2 in.
I saw it's maiden flight, it was not short of power!
Fly 1st flight with gear down, due to airleak, but never really got past 2/3rd throttle!
Have a safe trip to Sydney, see you later in the year.
Best wishes
Paul

I have had a discusion with Wren, and you are correct, the Simjet 1200 is a Wren 54 built under licence with a few 'tweaks' but it is not the Supersport.
The Supersport is not released yet, and will not be made under licence by anyone else, it is far more powerful than the 1200, or the standard 54.
Just to put things straight.
Regards and a happy new year to you all.
