OK, we've all heard the one about the chicken gun and the frozen bird, but how do you test for a moose strike? How do you propel the moose toward the aircraft? A moose catapult? A moos-apult? Strap a RATO bottle to his antlers, light fuse, and get away?
FWIW, moose are about the size of a horse. We've got a minor perspective trick going on here that makes the moose look as tall as the F-16 if you don't take into account distance from camera to moose and moose to F-16.
If that's Anchorage, I can confirm that moose are an issue up there. I used to cross-country ski on the groomed trails the city maintains in the winter. You always had to watch out for moose on the downhills--you didn't want to run into a mama moose and get her angry!
