Aviation Design Retracts
Does anyone know what make the retracts are for the large Aviation Design Rafale, are they A.D's own or made by another company.
I need some for my Rafale but from A.D. they seem to be a bit expensive.
Any help would be appreciated if anyone knows if somethng else will fit or if they know someone with some for sale.

RE: Aviation Design Retracts
Bob Ryan was selling a Big Rafale and some Airmagic retracts......
Or try contacting Airmagic direct for their twist and turn retracts.
We had a large Mirage with Aviation Design retracts and they were rubbish. Sold the plane due to the retracts.

RE: Aviation Design Retracts
Yes it is Airmagic retracts, 2 of my friends have the large A/D Rafale with these retracts and both have troubles with them. On the other hand there are not many large scale rotating retracts available, may be you should have a look at jetshop.biz they have just released some which look good.

RE: Aviation Design Retracts
Am I right in saying that the Aviation Design supplied retracts are actually Airmagic and they are not reliable.
Does anyone have a web address for airmagic.

Laura,
The main gear for the Mirage is made by A/D but it is different in the Rafale where they use standard rotating units.
Vin,
I'm sure that non rotating retracts would fit in this aircraft, I have the small one with standard non rotating Spring airs and there's no trouble, the rotation of the gear is needed only for twin engines set up.

Laura,
Do you use the AD oleo's, I have a set of Spring Air 402's but the AD oleo will not retract fully as the frame is not wide enough. Did you have to modify the single turbine inlets to clear the wheels?.

RE: Aviation Design Retracts
Air Magic retracts LOOK very strong and robust when in fact they are made from extremely soft materials and bend and malfunction very easily. I have owned and used three sets and will never buy another set. [:@]
