BVM F-4 parachute set up
Hi guys,
I finally got my braking parachute installed, and of course I am playing with the tensile strength of the vaious parts, in order to make sure that if it deploys in the air it will break free, but hold together for landing.
Well it pops out OK on landing but IMMEDIATELY breaks free. I would say I have designed for 20 pounds of pull (the Joe Grice instructions say to use 15 pound test) but it appears to be snapping and breaking with great vengence, I can't even see it open it pops so fast.
What are you guys using to hook up the chute? I assume everyone is attaching the line to the stab pivot tube?
TIA

Drogue chute
Matt,
what I used on my JMP F-4 was a 3ft. long 60lb.test fishing line-it is nylon and it works great, it is white and green in color and you can buy it at any fishing store that sells deep sea fishing equipment. Also the swivel link will open if you deploy it in flight-but it will hold tight at speeds below 90mph.
Hope this helps.
