Default Airbrakes?

Hey guys,

I've seen a lot of jets with airbrakes on their backs, but was wondering if they're done for scale or if they're really effective in slowing down the plane.

Just curiousity at work!

Ive heard that the airbrakes on top are not as effective, a hotspot owner told me it was more for looks.

Airbrakes on the bottom of the fuse are more effective.

my airbrake on the hot spot is on the top. when deployed i have to fly at half throttle and quite a bit of elevator. it slows down great and without it i could never land on a 500 ft runway. the kangaroo has the brake on the bottom and it would seem that it would create lift. however. not owning a kangaroo i wouldnt know, but i know for sure my brake on the top of my hotspot is extremely effective. barry
