New web site www.propbuster.org is up with limited use, sorry, listing the "JETFX" rally and a useful map of Odessa. The old site is operational, www.propbuster.freeservers.com. this site does not mention the "JETFX" rally however, it does have a good pic of the flying site.

DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS to the flying field in Odessa, TX
If you are heading west on I-20 exit 118 (GRANDVIEW), stay on service road heading west to the next stop sign (DIXIE), turn left onto Dixie, you will go under I-20, proceed 1.3 miles. Look for JETFX signs after the exit.

If you are heading east on I-20 exit 116, stay on service road passing through one red light until you reach the next stop sign (DIXIE), turn right (south) and proceed 1.3 miles to the flying field. Look for JETFX signs after the exit to lead you in.

Hey David,
The event is scheduled for July 16-18. JETFX is listed on JPO website, in the AMA monthly and at www.propbuster.org. You being in FT Worth puts you fairly close. The event will be in Odessa which is appx 4 hrs west of you on I-20. We will be sponsoring the Special Olympics with partial proceeds from the gate. Television stations are scheduled for a live interview during the morning on Friday and offers a good chance for pilots to get some AIR time. The flying field was built specifically for model aircraft only and hosts three intersecting runways, covered pits, food pavillion, enclosed m/w restrooms, 40+ RV spaces, 11 with electrical, small grandstand seating, all located 3 miles s of I-20, well away from any homes. Frequency tests have been completed and indicated no problems. Mid day entertainment will be provided on Saturday. Meals will be available Friday & Saturday for lunch, Saturday pilots dinner, and Sunday lunch. These meals are not just hamburgers, they are meals. If you get the chance, pack up, head west and come fly the beautiful W TX sky, you'll be glad you did.

I have utilized the local chamber of commerce and was rewarded with several offers from local motels/hotels offering special rates for the pilots/family/friends. The most attractive is from a the Holidome, featuring indoor climate controlled recreation area, a pool thats both in and out doors, Roman whirlpool, exercis/weight area, miniature golf, resturaunt, night club and nice rooms for $65 per night. if a lower rate is more attractive the Motel 6 offered $41.99 per night and is located on I-20, two mins from the field. Let me know and I will get you the resevation information. See you soon.

Go thru San Angelo on 87 to I-20/ Midland, turn left(w) and go to Odessa (16 miles), exit Grandview and follow "JETFX" signs. My cell number is 432-559-6395 if you have any problems. I will check on the link problem

Hey Scott,
As a matter of fact a new A/C was voted in at last nights club meeting. I tried to sanction the event for late September however, there were too many events on the books and July was the only choice. If you were at Lubbock last year in August you will find the weather about the same here.

You found the old web site, good job. The field has been improved since this pic was taken, the runways have longer extentions at each end. Obviously the new web site is having some difficulties. I'll have to check on that.

The main runway is 700' (500' paved, 200' smooth caliche at each end) and the intersecting runways are 520' (320' paved 200' runoff). The taxi way's are paved and the pits are concrete. You will find a pic on the old web site www.propbuster.freeservers.com

If you plan to attend the West TX "JETFX" and need a room, the local MCM Grande has just offered king room's at $79 per night. This is the only four star motel in the area, check the web site at www.mcmgrande.com. Only 17 rooms for the weekend of the meet as of yesterday. Just thought you would like to know.

FYI

For those that need a less expensive room, Motel 6 rooms are 33.95 per night. I know it would be nice to stay at one of the more plush hotels, but Motel 6 may be a cost cutting alternative.

If you are staying at the Motel 6 on I-20, at exit 118 you will be just around the corner from the air field. Simply turn right from the motel parking lot, go to the first stop sign, turn right and go to the end of the road (1.3 miles) and your there.
Bob for the purpose of commentation I am asking each pilot for a short description of himself and his jet(s). Please include your occupation, flying experience, and info on your jet(s). This will help the spectators to understand what we are doing. E-mail this back to me so I can have it ready for the event.
