Skymaster F18 - How scale???
I like the look of the Skymaster range, and the F-15 and F-18 have always been favorites. Looking at the F-15 some areas seem to be slightly non-scale which puts me off. The nose and radome profile in particular seems to be a little off, as well as some of the vents and grilles. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it as I certainly couldn't build as good with all the panel lines etc, but it just seems a little off in places.
However, the F-18 looks real good and I'm tempted. I've only a P-80 for power, which might be a little short on thrust for it. My question is can someone supply some close-up pictures of the detail, and highlight if some areas don't look quite right. I can't tell from the pictures that I've seen so far. I don't need a scale masters quality jet, but if something is obviously wrong it'll detract from the overall experience.
If anyone who's flying one could try it with 19lb thrust set on the engine, I would be real interested to see if the P-80 would be viable.
Thanks
Paul

RE: Skymaster F18 - How scale???
If you want more scale. Go with Y/A twin F-18. Which required alot scale master building experience.
Skymaster F-18 is almost look as good as Y/A twin. But only require assembly skill and can be done in 50-80 hrs.
So to answer your question. Skymaster F-18 might not impress the score board.
But it sure get you in the air quick.

RE: Skymaster F18 - How scale???
Regarding the Yellow size Gary Baker posted it's measurements but the numbers posted aren't actually the true numbers.
These posted numbers are what Yellow measures and the 98!QUOT! is the fuselage only. The Stabs on the Yellow are well aft of the fuselage I measured mine and it comes in at 102!QUOT! a bit longer then advertised. I know it's not much but since I transport these jets under my motor home size matters.
Take Care
