Default Attaching Pressure Fitting to Tuned Pipe ?

Had a Fuel Tank Pressure Fitting attached to a Tuned Pipe (Puffer Type) that came loose. I had used JB Weld to build up the thickness of the pipe wall, drilled/tapped the hole, and then and locktited the fitting in. I think the threaded area of the JB Weld joint gave way. Is there something better than JB Weld ? or a high temperature version of JB Weld ? Thanks. Bob

Pressure in the duct gives a more dependable running engine.

Bob,
On my tuned pipes I do not build up the thickness with JB weld and drill and tap, instead I drill the hole so the nipple will sorta thread in. Then I scuff the surface and JB weld it into place making sure to mechanically lock the nipple onto the pipe by using JB weld up and over the top of the nut on the nipple. JB weld is good stuff for this application in my experience, I just dont think it is meant to be threaded. My $.01

plug the hole and use pitot pressure off the fan. I think Tom Cook sells the set up at JMP. I've been using it for years.

Randy, I actually purchased the pitot pressure fitting you mentioned. But I think the installation with the Byron fan may be a bit more challenging/difficult. Thanks. Bob

If you can find one-the OPS pressure fitting is the best one for tuned pipe use - it has a nut that threads on it from the inside of the pipe.

As above... use JB weld on the threads, and to cover and caputure the fitting.

I was assuming it was on a dynamax type. I have very little exparience with the byron setup, It seems it would work as well.
Good luck, Randy

Bob if this is what you need look no farther it is made by Mc pipes the makers of your tunned pipes, made for those pipes with thin walls, it has tree nuts two hold it self to the pipe and one to put pressure to the 90 degree elbow, installation is easy but you will need a wire to go from the front opening of the pipe to the pressure hole this wire is used to slide the nut that goes inside the pipe.

Hope this helps.

I didnt have any luck with the jmp pressure pitot. i have lower tanks locations than most df setups.. i had to go back to pipe pressure and iron bay regulator.. seems like a winner for me!!

The best way is to go to a local weld shop, and have them build up a glob of weldment. Grind a flat then drill and tap through that.
