I am looking in to getting a Hot Spot as a firts jet. I have about 15 years flying experience with standard glow engines, from .25 to 1.20. What are some of your recomendations as far as this jet goes? I am also looking for some good web sites to do some research and RC Jets in general but so far I am not finding any that are usefull. I like lots of info before I decide to buy one, so any info would be great.

HI FUN2FLY
People will probably jump on this from a great height for saying this but we have had several
hotspots, kangaroos and even a rookie flying in our club all are great in the air but landings have to be spot on
and preferably on a runway.
We have a 450 foot close mown grass strip and all have come to grief on landing and all have been flown by experienced flyers
Our current fleet is a yellow F18 twin a eurofighter an AD large Rafale and my own Avonds F15 and we dont suffer the same
landing characteristics that these delta`s do,if your going to fly from a paved runway then give it a go but from grass strips especially slightly crosswind
then beware.
This is just my experience of them and i bet there are a lot out there who have had no problems at all
so like you say get lots of info before you jump in.
goodluck

Most of the best info that I have come across was found at jet events at local clubs and right here on RCU. Most times if you have a question it has been posted here in the past, so learn the search feature and most all your questions will be answered.[8D]

i fly a hot spot and it will land on 450 ft anyday. the trick for me is the spoiler, it uses a large robart air cylinder. when deployed, i drag her in at just under half throttle until i am nearly in and then chop the throttle. it has a high angle of attack and does not hop much like the roo. the eurofighter is the slowest landing jet i have seen though, just more dollars. my 2 cents barry ps i would find a longer runway to practice on though. i never test fly anything jet wise on less than a 1000 ft, just my preference,

That is the truth! There isn't anywhere else that has more info from experienced jet pilots than here. I learned sooo much from this site.
BTW I fly a Rookie and think it is a great first jet. The landings do take some getting used to though.
