Thiefs strike again

GrayUK,
I've kept up with that story. The home owner got screwed big time. Didn't one of your Parliment members get into trouble over a shotgun license and comments about shooting any thieves? Seems they revoked his license over a simple comment.
I once had some beautiful land, about 8 acres, out in the country. I kept getting broken into, even with a good alarm system. I finally moved and sold the land. I don't miss the break ins. Next time, it's an alarm system and a big dog.

A golf club also does the trick and is far more legal than a gun. Remember to ALWAYS tell anyone who asks that YOU were in fear for your own life and were defending yourself in your own home. Or else remain silent, but that can make you look guilty as well. ...and I recommend a Kryptonite "New York" lock to secure your trailer. Unless the fellows have a blow torch, they'll never get inside.

RCPete,
I put a Viper car alarm in my trailer. Its powered by the 12V deep-cycle marine battery I have in there for charging, etc. It will go off if the trailer is moved, or if either of the doors are opened. I don't yet have it setup to flash the trailer lights, but doing that is pretty easy with a 12V relay - as would also be the case if you had electric brakes on the trailer and wanted to activate them too. At $200, it cheaper than the trailer-specific system someone else suggested - which I'm sure works well too. If you put an alarm on the trailer, you'll get a break on the insurance too.

Ok here is what I did after loosing my trailer. 1 electric jack that has a hidden switch. 2 toung lock. 3 audible alarm system that uses a tilt senser not vibration ( to many falses ). Doors are wired to alarm. Relay locks trailer brakes when alarm go's off. 4 satellite tracking system that pages my cell phone when alarm go"s off. The reason for the extra security is we can not replae the lost time that we spend building . I can talk you through setting up of the system if you need. Dan Avilla

The *******s broke into my clubs shipping container (storage shed) and stole our generator and other equipment. Our other shed had a solar powered security light with motion detector and they stole that too, at NIGHT.
They also broke into our impound shed and stole our first aid kit, a big one and 2 fire extinguishers.
Need to rig out buildings so they can get in without doing much damage but they can't get out till the cops get there.

sorry for bringing up stinking politics...this is the result of socialist policies, first the UK, then canada, and maybe now the US after november. ever notice the person living at the end of the country road with a couple of good dogs and a gun or two never gets ripped off? a sad state of affairs indeed when the criminal has more rights than the victim! back to airplanes...

Hmmmnn,,, lets see if I can get through this mine field without tripping anything... I think what you are looking for is a combination of all of the above. First, Go to a high end car alarm shop and talk to the manager. Ask for an alarm with a paging system. Do hook it to the electric brakes. In several sporting goods stores, there are what are called "game cameras" They are basicly weather proof cameras hooked to motion sensors that take pics of what-ever moves in front of them. There are also VCRs that have a extended play feature that can record about 9 hours of video. Video cameras around 1 or 2 hundred and the VCR is around 100. If the thieves are coming in the night when you are home, just use the pager and deal with it yourself. If that is not what you wish to do then use the sirens and lights. At the very least, get their picture and have them put away. When your at a motel, you can still use the video system. I work out of town a lot and have many thousands of dollars worth of my own tools in my truck. I always get a room where I can park in front of my window and I set up my video system and record all night. When the humidity is high, I use a bit of anti-fog on the glass outside. So far (knock on balsa) I havent had a problem, maby the thieves see the camera.

could do like my dad did. he went and bought a motion sensor and attached the alarm wires to a motor and connected a paint ball gun to the motor... I might have a copy of the paint ball gun design here. but as the motor spins "runs off a 12v battery" he mig welded a piece of pipe to act as a finger so every revolution the motor made it fired a round.. i think he got something like 25 shots out in like 10 or 15 seconds.... It wont kill the guy but it sure will scare the hell out of them. I'll call my dad tonight and see just how he did it.. i know it wasnt expensive i think 10 bucks for the sensor, maybe another 10 or 15 for the motor. already had paintball guns.. Ohh and if you try this make sure to get either glow in the dark paint or UV paint....For when the police go looking for them..

Hi All
If you set up a twin battery switch (from 4X4 shops) you can charge your trailer battery while you are tripping around, and keeps the battery full for the alarm system. YES use top end locks but don't skimp on the latches or hinges.
Cheers,
Remember, Always look after the ORGANIC part of the model

HI all, I think a skunk oil filled canister under charge placed inside the trailer and wired to the door would make this thief think twice about riping people off again, got to go to my local sporting shop to see if they sell such a creature.

Skuck charge - painball guns -
How many times have you guys triggered the flash & horn alarms on your car by accident. You wanna do the same thing and get covered in something? While holding your plane, maybe?

I've had the alarm for about 2 1/2 years now, and no problems with it so far.

Yeah, I got two pit bulls that roam my property at odd hours throughout the day. They're really *****cats, but look mean as hell and the safest deterrent I know. In reality one of them is really protective of the property when we are not around and the other just chimes in just so he isn't outdone.

I would have chimed in on this thread a lot earlier but the punks next door stole both my computers on June 4th, plus a whole lotta other stuff. Arrested about 10 days later, back home 21 days after that with a slap on the wrist, even though one of them was on probation at the time of the arrest. Another miscarriage of justice--my family and I live in fear while the drug-addicted hooligans have free reign.

A Can O' Whoop @$$ would fix all those problems.[:@] They way I see it, what I have is MINE, not yours. If you touch MY stuff without MY permission, you invite MY choice of reactions. Law is not an issue, Civil suits are not an concern. I take no prisoners, and hold no bars (except the iron one I will smash your skull with if you persist in touching MY stuff)[>:]. I have lived in every state in the southeastern US from SC to TX. Nowhere, Ever, by Anyone, have I ever allowed MY stuff to be treated with disrespect. I am not a big man or a violent one. I am, however, raised on the fundamental morals that seem to be fading away in our worldly society. I.E. Don't Mess With MY Stuff. Period. If you feel YOUR stuff is as important to you as I do MINE, you may try adopting the same approach. Remember, All is fair on Love and War. Which way do you choose?
