Default Start box problems

Anyone know whats going on with my startbox here?

Today when I plugged it into the ecu all I get is bars.
I can't figure out what to do.
I started the engine even and went to plug it in and when I do it shuts off the ecu.
When I turn on the radio I get the ecu lights blinking, but as soon as I plug in the start box, the lights go out and all I get is bars.

help?

My buddy Richard, a few years back, had a similar issue with his RAM 500. He would sometimes get bars or gibberish on the display. We were at Superman and Bob Price was there so we went to see him. Turned out it was a bad solder joint, I think in the start box.

P.S. The bad solder joint was a cold soldered joint and was intermittent. We could wiggle the wire where it went into the box and get the display to change. Does yours do that? Of course, it could be an intermittent connection on either end, his just happened to be in the start box. Hope it helps.

I will try that at the field this morning. What bugs be is that the ecu is shutting off when the jack gets plugged in.

I have an older RAM 750P start box and it does the same thing yours does if I use 6v RX packs. Work just fine on 4.8v. I'm running two 6v RX packs in my Reaper and I normally unplug one of the ailerons and plug a 4.8v RX pack during startup. Then after the turbine is running I switch on my two 6v RX packs and plug the aileron back in.

Not sure if that will fix your problem, but if your running 6v, might try a 4.8v pack.

Now that I think about it, it was not a cold solder joint. I think it was a hair-line crack in a solder joint.

It could be the box or the cable. Very often an intermittent problem.
