I have one of the old T-38 kits by Jim Dykes and need some help on the hookup linkage on the stabs and how they were mounted. My plans show the stabs glued to the fuse and with standard elavators hooked up but my stabs are built to be full flying like the real one.
I Will have more ? later I'am sure so if you have any suggestions they will be greatly appreciated Thanks Todd Jackson

Hi,
Are you sure about that? I built one of those years ago (never flew it), and I don't remember seeing anything that showed fixed stabs with hinged elevators.

I will try to scan part of the plans to show how it was drawn up..This is suppose to be number 3 of only three made till he found a flaw in the wing saddle of the fuse.. It had negative incidence in the wing.. Thanks for the reply.. Todd

Never seen that version of the T-38. Did they sell that as Air Magic? I know it's the same name (Jim Dyck), but under the Air Magic name, they only made COMPOSITE planes. I had the original plane that was built Air Magic and then was flown by Tommy Woods. I flew it locally here for about 15 flights until the top hatch popped open during flight and got stuck at 90degrees to the fuselage acting like a Giant Speed Brake. I still have pictures of that here somewhere. You can call Jim Dyck at Air Magic, he is usually only there in the Mornings.

Turbulence,
This t-38 by Jim was sold by him under his first name company years ago as JIM an I JETS. This kit is fiberglass fuse and foam core wings and tail feathers before he redid the fuse molds and changed it composite.. How was the tail linkage made? Thanks Todd

James it had an all moving Elevator, Depending on how hard it would be to upgrade, I woud get the elevator machanism from Air Magic, or at least ask Jim and see if it will work with your plane. The elevator servo was located under the main hatch and also served and the brakes when Down Elevator was used. The air would only go to the brakes if the retracts where in the down position (the Brake line was a "T" coming off the gear down air line) Some one crashed one not to long in our club and the tail is still there and in one piece. I know for sure it has at least one if not both of the elevators still on the plane, I don't make that 90minute drive often, but I can check it for you and see if I can get you the elevator linkage.

Close barry. That one was painted the same way as mine, but did not have the Scale cockpit. Some one in Riverside had it for sale and I tried to buy it, but I was was beaten to the deal. Mine was about two years ago. The one at Prado now, was less than a year ago. But Barry and I are talking about the same one. That is the one I can rip out the Elevators or what is left of them IF it is still there next time I go to the field.
