Funny how I read in post 66 from Todd at Dreamworks RC how it never made it. You guys haven't tried yet and that is fine. But I will say that I respect Todd and his info, and if he said he had a no go out of the box, with all the other items with this engine, it will probably be a similar experience for you.

With no preload on those bearings, plese stand back if you get the rpm up. I am not interested in anyone getting hurt in this hobby. Not even you buddy. I truely do wish you guys luck with this, but the testing you are and have been doing is not anything but a catalyst for people to get excited about something that isn't anywhere near available for the public yet. Do the testing and work the results, good and bad, and after that fly the engine for a few hundred flights, then come here and post what the results were as well as the future ideas of the product and company are. At that time sucess will be in your future.

Picture Says It All.............

Now everything is going to be disassembled and check for normal wear, there has been 30 cycles on the engine and 75 minutes of run time. Everything will be put on a layout table and checked over then reassembled and ran some more with random breakdowns and remeasurements. All a part of the process. Small video clip to come shortly. The Video Has the 160K in it, although it was at 160K more than it was in the video we were just taking the video with a standard digital camera.

Just wondering WHY you think that because Whitkoff could not get his to run that ours will not?? Also, come on, give me a break, you guys act like we personally cut this thing out of sheet metal in our garage from plans we got from popular mechanics. Yes it needs testing, alot of it, and it needs flight time, I Agree. Russ

the turbine seem to be very strong for 12 lbs. maybe in do time we can dust off the bvm aggressors III and ultra vipers. i believe i saw 160,000rpm and a cosumption of 20 oz. of fuel in approx. 4 to 5 min. and transition great from min. to max. ( 45,000 to 161,000 rpm) not bad for a turbine that ran very hot in the beginning. now you can address the preload for longer bearing life to the consumer. great leg in a long race. and i'm sure you will have some set backs but sounds like you have a great r&d team not so quick to give in.

Justin,

Have you done anything to the JJ turbine other than running it out of the box?

Hey, Cactusflyer. I was there Sunday. Our field does't allow drinking and runing engines, yours appears too. Dennis

Maybe there are some who are afraid of competition ... hmmmmmm !

Allegations are easy ... proof of allegations is more difficult !

Nah, this thread is good, some people showing their true colors, some people showing their insecurities, some people claiming they are above all others (which is laughable) and some people showing a true determination to share information which is why this site is even up

I've enjoyed and learned a lot in this thread. Wonder where my next few thousand in turbine dollars will be spent. And wonder who will follow me where I spend it

I was talking to a few flying buddies of mine on the weekend that went to a jet meet last weekend. They said that they had been tipped off about a guy in the far east producing MW54 kits at a very competitive price. Does anyone have any idea where I can get one. By competitive I mean the price was sub £600 for the full kit including the fadec, pump, ecu etc....
My my, from such humble beginnings

If you think about it this is quite an effective means for the manufacturer to conduct R ad D.
Produce a basic product, introduce it to the masses and wait for feedback, correct the problems and at the same time get a feel for market interest based on the volume of feedback.......

CUNNING

Just a thought.......

Since I'm a LHS owner, I has often wished that many kit builders would have let the consumer or regular guys have some imput into their product. This is what you are seeing now. Dennis

Ben will look you up at Superman. You gave me some springair parts at Cin. a few years ago think it was the same day your starfire ate the tires on the end of the runaway.

Unfortunately, I am not going to Superman this year because of unresolved engine problem in my Rookie. Take a look at my new avatar and you will know how I feel about it. (lol)

Have a safe trip to SM-2004 and take good care of yourself my friend.

Hmmm ... if it's an engine problem, then isn't your OLD avatar more appropriate ? (Peeing on a turbine).

Hey, Justin,

It's apparent from following this great thread that you are honest and that you are doing your best in the testing of this turbine.

Therefore, the photos of the ECU showing the RPM, temp, etc. are totally unnecessary...just to relate your readings would be sufficient. Anyone who doesn't believe your word without any evidence to the contrary, doesn't deserve your time anyway.

You're doing all the work...we should all be grateful!

Thanks,
Bob Edison
