After a few flights now... All I can complain about is....IT DOESN'T WANT TO LAND[&:]
Even at 5500' with a p80(17lb) it flies fine. slows down and just floats by. It like a cub when it gets into ground effect.
Does anyone that is flying this have any tips that they developed?

some possibilities that may work:
-shut the turbine off on short final,
-use slower approach speeds,
- can you dial in more flap??,
-build a nose gear door like the kingcat,
-use crow on the ailerons to kill some lift..
These are only intended to be helpful suggestions...i have not even seen a DV*R yet.......

actually the flaps are at 3" throw.
why turn off a turbine?..Taxing back is nice or iwould be in free flight not r/c
Slower speeds...what was i born yesterday.
What killing me is ground effect. It like trying to land a 1/4 scale cub (A $8,000 cub)
it just floats.
Now crow is starting to be a posibility, If any one has used one on a dv8r let me know.
I just thought i would ask.

Really thanks, I seems sarcastic in response.
i appriatate any feed back.
Just trying to get those that are flying it to see if this is typical. and how they are overcoming it WITHOUT modifying the airframe.

Hi, I have a DV8R, I suggest not holding off while waiting for the airspeed to decay, nothing wrong with putting it on the deck, even without flaps at higher speed then using the brakes.

The shutting down the turbine is a Mick Reeves recommendation for the Reaper which has the same problem... the idea is to get it down safely, so it will live to fly again instead of floating into what every obstacle lies beyond your runway.
I'm familiar with the cub floating feeling (having a couple of them downstairs). In worse case scenarios I have planted it on the ground well above flying speed and let the drag from the wheels on the grass (no brakes) slow it down...fine for a taildragger, but if you do in on a trike gear, there is always a risk of bouncing the nose gear leading to a version of the dreaded Kangaroo hop.
Hope you find an answer....

I think it is very likely that you are just approaching too fast. With the flaps down, this model will begin slowing down and continue to slow past stall speed unless power is used. The flap configuration that I put on the DV8R is more than enough to slow it down, I would not advise other high drag configurations until you get more time on the model. Most of the landings that I make which are at a crawl and are done so with about thirty percent power. I would suggest that maybe you practise slow, power-on flight at alttitude, getting used to the amount of power it takes to maintain level flight while in a high pattern. When you find that you are on the approach with a little power to drag it in, you will be able to put the model down right where you want to but learning to fly slow is the key here I think. Good Luck

Ok i trying to get a response and getting you to look at the thread. I can fly the dv8r around at stall speed at alt and prevent it from stalling. So i Shure it just getting use to it.
jetsetter!!!!
looks like you shot yourself in the foot (feet) with your smart***** answer. No one is OBLIGATED to help you. They do it to be NICE. Looks like you blew it. Seems like the problem is that you may have been born yesterday and don't KNOW how to slow it down. It you can't fly THAT thing, what are you going to do when you get your hands on a real Hi Performance jet?!
