Default Brake lubrication ?

I have a question about what everyone is using to lube the rubber bladders in the brake hubs to keep them from grabbing. I have used vaseline in the past......haven't flown in a couple of years....and was not happy with it. It will cause the bladders to swell over a period of time and cause a lot of drag. Is there something better on the market now? ( BVM wheels and brakes )

I use Dielectric Silicon Compound for electronic ignitions available at the auto parts store.

Do you use the silicon compound on BVM brakes?

I found some o-ring lube at my local pool supply company. Works great and was cheap.

HUMMMM,

The key seems to be in using a silicon based product as it doesn,t affect the rubber components the same way petroleum based solutions will, i.e., expand the rubber.......good suggestion....thanks

rcs1313,

I've been using White Lithium Grease for a couple years and it works great. When my brakes start getting a little "grabby", I clean the hubs, bushings, axles and o-ring, then I wipe a thin coat of grease on the o-ring and axle before re-assembly. The product that I have been using is available from Permatex in a 1.5 oz tube (part number WL-9) which should last for many many brake lube jobs. The Dielectric Tune-up Grease is available in a 3 oz. tube (part number 22 058) also from Permatex. Your local auto parts store should have both of these.

Happy New Year!

I use the super O, but I've found that if I leave the Black grunge and just add more super O I get no grabbing, the dirtier the better...
