Hey gang .... Does any one know of a Concord prog. built a few years ago ? I found it on the www just looking around one night. I have no idea of the size but the thing was HUGE. Also everything on it worked even the nose dropped for landing . I have no idea if it ever flew or not but it was awesome. It had British airways colors and lettering and if Im not mistaken it had 4 turbines it was the biggest model airplane Ive ever seen. Thanks Pat D

Hi Pat !
All i know is that a Guy called Peter Michel from Germany has build one a few years ago; it was huge and Powerd by i think 2 Turbines. Know there is also a Full Composite Kit available from him, or from a good friend of him Harald Breuer.
Here is the Link to his Homepage, but only in German Language !?

If i can be of any help for you let me know ok !
Regards
Thomas

Thomas thanks for the reply. I did find this site but the model I saw was composite or at least I think it was composite. After my first post I remembered whoever built this thing also had a custom trailer built for it. The trailer had hydraulics to tilt the model up or down or lean both ways as if it were banking . If memory serves me the model on the trailer were hooked up to a saab station wagon and it was longer than the car which made for a funny looking photo. I will continue to search and if I find it I will be sure to send you the info. Thanks again for the reply Thomas will be in touch Pat D.

Based on the lack of flight performance and the fact that it can't be flown in the US, I'd say not much more than the equipment (turbines, gear, fittings, etc.) in it...

I read that AMT invested $80,000.00 USD and seeing it was finished after 9/11 2001 I guess they got refused to fly on the grounds of national security.
Hey they have been using unmaned aircraft in Iraq since Gulf War 1990 so maybe there was a good point.
Cheers

Poor guys in the US, I´m really with you. I can´t understand that restrictive rules overseas[sm=confused.gif]. On one hand the Freedom´s home, on the ather hand no freedom at all, at least for jet flyers[

Huh????? It can be flown here (overseas).....It's just that the AMA insurance won't cover it.....I have flown a lot on private property with a guy who NEVER belonged to the AMA and he flew much more than most modellers. We used to teach beginners how to fly at his place BEFORE they joined the AMA....Otherwise, most of them would have not gotten into the hobby to begin with due to the cost of AMA and club membership fees. The insurance is only to protect the landowner from financial loss...it's not regulatory. The guys out West fly off dry lake beds in the desert and the folks in the Midwest fly from cow pastures...........Whatever they want.

So true!
no sure why this thought that you cant fly large planes in America persists. and why folks think AMA owns rc flying in America.

Here is what I heard a while back. Jim Weigle from AMT at the time has used Terry Nitch to fly his stuff(Great Pilot so I understand why) Terry has a special waiver that allows him to be insured with what ever he flys. AMA said no to flying the concord even out in the dessert a milliion miles from anywhere with Terry at the controls. Which would mean the lose of his waiver I presume. I assume that they want no pressident set. So since Terry is out I believe it is will never fly.

I would love to see that baby come across a dry lake bed with all its turbines whistling at full throttle. It would be fantastic for a pilot to bank it into a descending low altitude fly by just to see how fast it could go.
Oh well, a guy can dream.
