Hi;
I recently purchased a new OS 46VXDF to replace my old K&B 7.5 in a Turbax 1. I also purchased the conversion kit for the Turbax from Jet Hangar Hobbies. Unfortunately, the socket head bolt that fits into the impeller nut has a worn hole and the socket wrench slips! WEhat options do I have other than taking a hacksaw to the Spinner and impeller nut? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

I noticed that many people logged in but none had an answer! You all most have experienced similar problems! I therefore went to the one person who should know the answer: Larry Wolfe at Jet Hangar hobbies.
Here is his reply:
Al,
Sorry to hear you have a problem.
1) The only thing I can think to do is put a popsicle stick into the engine exhaust, then turn the spinner/impeller assembly as though you were unscrewing it. That way it will break free from the engine. Then you can get to the spinner by moving the impeller away from the spinner. Once you break the jam nut effect of the two impeller nuts you should be able to unscrew the bolt.
2) As I was writing this, I also had this thot: Have you tried to turn the spinner bolt out with a flat end hex? Instead of using the ball end, how about using a flat end socket?
Let me know if either of these methods work for you.
Good luck!
Best regards,
Larry Wolfe
Guess what!! His first suggestion worked! It required the application of some force by hand, but it popped cleanly right off! Whew- What a relief! Thanks Larry.
