..The rumor is that their demo team will be there as well, running 5 black and decker workmates in tigth formation. Their flaming low passes are supposed to be highly impressive
Not much chance of this..at least one wont start

That would be the sixth member of the team.

Ok. So this thread is 3 years old now and JJ is still in business. How are you guys who are flying them fairing? Good? Bad? I was at the Maine Jet Rally over the weekend and saw a lot of flying but have no idea if anyone was running one. Joe has had 3 years to get it right. How's he doing? I read I glowing report of Gabe, one of his US reps who is apparently in the process of moving to Florida.

So, tell me.....
Mine has over 5 hrs on it now only about 30mins of that was on the bench, now that I have it setup it starts and runs perfect everytime, any problems I had was with the ECU.

Hey Ken,
The JJ1400 is pretty much the same size as the Wren MW54 so I'd go for the JJ1800.

You can get one from http://www.ausjets.com/ here in Australia....speak to Rob Orrock and he'll be sure to look after you. They're ideal for this sort of application. As you know I've had a JJ1800 in my "jet dragster" for quite some time now and it has more than 70 hours on it and only it's second set of bearings, it is somewhat " internally modified" though and really has nothing in common with a normal JJ1800 other than it's looks.

There's also at least one or two places in the US who can supply a JJ1800 engine, such as Mark Harper here at: http://www.jetjoecentral.com/ I believe he may have a new website too but I'm unsure of the address.

Gabe Brown at http://www.jetjoeus.com is in the process of relocating his business so he may be out of action for a short time.

You can also buy one direct from JetJoe himself at http://www.jetjoe.com/main.php but I'd get it set-up first by a reputable model turbine specialist first, this way you can be sure it will at least "run out of the box".

Cheers,
Smithy.

Hey Ken,
I only really have the one video of the car actually "moving", go here: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=uzdDQfeI9Ik I was only testing the steering and brakes to make sure I wasn't going to lose the car!!

Here's a vid of the afterburner running with full fuel pressure, it's a bit hit n' miss but you'll get the idea.

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=T01iqD...eature=related

Whereabouts in Aus did you live??

Cheers,
Smithy.

Ken,
My Front wheels are from a 1/5th scale nitro powered ThunderTiger"Ducati" motorcycle, the rear wheels are Phatline's approx 145mm dia with cable operated disc brakes in behind them.

Cheers,
Smithy.

How are the JetJoe1400 holding up? I am getting into turbines and have read mixed reviews on these turbines. Most posts are bashing these engines and it turns out those who post don't even own a JetJoe. JetJoe owners give me your feedback on how your engine is doing for you. I understand the quality has come a long way and for the price you can't beat.

THanks,
Mike

Mine has been running great for about a year now, never fails to start, only stopped once on landing as I had the decel setting a bit low. The only problems I have had has been with the ECU not the turbine.

Hi guys, I'm a new JJ-1400 owner, and need your help. I initially set the system up on a table , and got good starts and performance 5 times. So I then installs it in an aircraft, and had trouble starting it this morning. Got a flaming start here, actually the start was never complete because I had to shut it down. I'm using off-board gas here, and I can just turn it off at the regulator valve, which is what I had to do. But ............... the "ramping up", kero fuel pump never started here, starter stopped cranking, no compressor or turbine blades turning, so the excess propane just burned straight up. Not good for tail of aircraft ! Display indicated " Bad Start ". I primed the fuel all the way to the engine, using the prime procedure, but it doesn't move because the pump doesn't come on. Pump did come on for the prime procedure so I assume that it's still good.

Another thing. It seems that the propane didn't want to shut off by the solenoid valve, I had to do it manually at the regulator. " Bad Start " on the display also didn't want to go away, is there anyway to reset the ECU ?

So why didn't the "ramp up" start , and the kero start pumping ? What should I look for ? ? ?

Thanks guys.

... zak

Do ya have the kero and gas solenoid plugs switched around or plugged in backwards? "Runs fine on the Workmate, but fails in the aircraft"
What did you change? (hint)" the plugs"

check yor battery and double check all plug ins. Start sequence should be glow on -you will here a buzz if the glow plug is drawing power from the ecu. next the gas solenoid turns on- I don't use one just a check valve to motor. check rpm sensor wire It sould not run near you glow wires and motor wires as it pick up rf noise. twisting the glowplug wires helps too. check temp probe with a lighter watching display it should extend 1/8 " to 1/32" in to tail cone.check starter wires maybe it broke off starter I use a mini deans in line and can plug in to battery to check. make sure large plugs to ecu do not have a broke wire and are pluged all the way in.

yes fuel and gas valve connections could be reversed, dont bother to prime system as you will get a wet start, it will eventually suck the fuel up after a few goes, I never use the prime feature, make sure you have a temp reading, make sure the starter is engaging properly on the spinner nut
