RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
...that smell takes me back to the 70's when we were stuck in monumental floods down here... and all we did for 2 weeks was go down to the local airport and watch all the rescue Hueys, Hercs & Caribous shunt stuff in and out...
...and the AirShows we used to go to at Laverton with my Dad in the late 60's early 70's

Well one advise , if you re using that turbine oil in your fuel, I heard it makes your nuts fall off !
Not sure if its true but that synthetic turbine oil is some nasty mama so inhaling it must have some kind of affect ..

Really? I thought that the synthetic stuff was supposed to be a LOT safer than the old mineral-based Turbine oils.
I've since found out that the Jet-A1 down here may contain some pretty nasty anti-freesz ju-ju - so I'm treating my fuel with a lot more respect. Dunno if I can go 'cold turkey' on the exhaust fumes but...

HAHAHA Well only time will tell if they will need some liposuction .... But on a more serious note I know that aircraft break fluid is lethal I know this because I use to work on piston aircraft , and didnt really play with jets then ..
A freing who works of airbus and boeings says the oil used today is bad stuff so just watch out, dont be dunking biscuits in Jet oil !

I am switching to Castrol TTS 2 stroke once my current mix is finished for both my Wren and my JetJoe, read to many things about turbine oil, 2 stroke is easier got as well.

See if you can get onto a supply of Mobil DTE light industrial turbine oil.
Contains none of the really nasty chemicals contained in aviation turbine oils.
Recommended by Wren, works fine & about 1/4 the price of Castrol TTS in Oz.
You may have to buy it in a 20 litre drum, share with friends?
I did have problems with the TTS oil making my Wren difficult for the starter to
spin it up if not flown regularly, if you fly every fortnight or so it may not be a problem. - John.

Sure, there may be some 'teething problems' that way, but I wanted to learn 'the hard way'.
Brett Smith down here in Oz has been invaluable with his guidance and support, and I've learned heaps in the process. My 'babies' will be off to 'Smithy' for the final once-over before I put them into an Airframe.
Good luck with your JJ1400

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
I hope to firing my new JJ-3000 up this weekend - out of the box.
Now that I got my first JJ-3000 all sorted and starting/running reliably, I'm expecting to just bolt the new one on and hook it all up the same way as the first one and get it to fire up first time.
I'll let you know how I get on Mike...
