REMOTE CONTROL JET AVIATOR MAKES RECORD FLIGHT AT FLOYD BENNETT FIELD
Yesterday, Wednesday, October 9, at aproxmiately 2:30 pm, on the grounds of Floyd Bennett field, New York, Lucas Vallejo of Bergen County, New Jersey, became the first remote control (RC) pilot to launch and successfully land a turbine engine Mig 29 jet plane.
The Mig 29, the latest and fastest jet plane in the Russian arsenal, has been recreated as a true-to-scale fiberglass and carbon fiber assembly kit. There are only 100 model kits scheduled to be manufactured for this plane to be distributed worldwide.
As of October 9, 2002, only 82 plane kits of the 100 scheduled for production have been manufactured and distributed; only one of which has been flown in Europe.
To our knowledge, eighty of the existing distributed kits have not yet been successfully assembled. However, in the Western Hemisphere, history was made with Lucas Vallejo's extreme persistence and commitment to the successful take-off and landing of this museum quality and museum scale turbine-engine remote controlled jet.
Lucas Vallejo has been in the aeronautics industry for over 20 years. In addition to being a licensed pilot, he has also managed the Teterboro Plane Club Association and a flight training school. With over 10,000 hours of experience and dedication to the design, assembly and production of RC model planes, Lucas is available to provide expert advise and consultation for aficionados of turbine-engine remote controlled aircraft.
The production of this plane was sponsored by Jets Cleaners, Inc. a full spectrum aircraft detailing service at Teterboro airport, Teterboro, New Jersey.
For more information or to contact Lucas Vallejo in New Jersey, e-mail him at [email protected], call 201.288.5758 or fax him at 201.288.5655.
