Default Hotspot gear

I am working on my second hotspot and the kit I picked up came with a set of stock retracts. Two units appear to be plastic or resin molded case's, and the third looks like pot metal. What I would like to know if anyone has used them and how well did they hold up? [img][/img]

The Eurokit retract units will hold up VERY well in the hotspot. Even the plastic ones. They will develope a little slop with some use, but nothing to worry about.

The eurokit legs are made of some crappy aluminium. They will hold up on normal use, but if you have a bad landing, the will bend

William, I did not like these units at all and didn't have much success with them. I put Robarts in and never looked back. This was a few years ago and was my first turbine, but regardless, when I switched I never had another problem. That was my experience.

Hello:

The landing gear of Eurokit is only for the very best landings. No is strong enought.

I used this eurokit gear in a HS, and it worked well for me, but I still prefer Robarts.

Best regards, Enrique

Thank you all for the feedback, I will probably install a set of robarts in it and not worry about the quality of these. Cmjets, that is one sweet looking HS, I may have to steal that for mine

They are less than useless. We call them Eurotrash here, The latest ones are better though still way overpriced for the poor quality.

The strut mounts with a 3/16" wire stub. Its very hard to align the toe in while grinding flat spots on the wire, also prone to bending in every landing. The nose gear was very slow to deploy due to the spring down feature.

hehe, I guess Im the only one with good experiance with these retracts.

I flew my hotspot of grass fields, and have made some very bad landings where the 6mm hardened steel joiner pins just snap clean off.
Even the plastic housings held up to this.

I think my succes with these is contributed in that I used Behotec trailing leg struts.
These are VERY tough. 10 times better than the eurokit struts.

I have hovered/stalled the hotspot abot 80cm off the field, and then it free fell directly onlt the field onto all 3 gears, and there was no damage.
I have run off the runways, and into corn fields a few times at high speed, with only the nose strut bending a little aft.

In the pics below, you can see the silver behotec struts. The black eurokit struts are of very bad quality. As you can see in the pics of my too fast landing, they snaped into bits

The retract units never took any damage.
