I am just about to fit the UAT and pump to my new Reaction 54. I plan to install the UAT and the pump in front of the wing and have the fuel line feed back to the engine. This will make the line from the pump to the engine about 18 inches. Is this too long?.
has anyone installed their pump this far from the engine?.
The engine is a Wren Supersport.
I was going to install the UAT up front and the pump near the engine, but I thought it would be better to have the pressure fuel line longer than the suction line. Of course I will install the manual fuel tap and ECU fuel valve in the pressure line.
Any comments would be welcome.
regards

from my experience, i can say shorter is better on the suction side.
on the pressure side the lenght is not anymore a problem.
in my Eurosport the pump and UAT are beetwen the tank( in front of the turbine), but on the pressure side i go with the tube on the front of the model (under the canopy), where i have a manual valve and the solenoid valve, and back to the turbine..a good meter of tube...
just the first time, the turbine will run longher on gas, or not ramp on fuel, when tube are empty..

Your setup is perfect. I am using almost the same dimensions on my Boomerang Intro with the Supersport. The suction line from hopper tank to pump should always be as short as possible. The pressure line can be any length.

Thanks Guys,
I thought it would be Ok but I just wanted to be sure. My first R54 has the UAT and the pump back near the engine. I needed some noseweight so I thought I would put the pump and UAT up the front. it will make the install a lot simpler.
Thanks again.

Its not super critical IMHO and would be fine as your diagram, that said as a rule I reckon closer the pump is to UAT/tanks the better as then quicker to draw fuel into pump and prime and start pumping fuel... By the way the Super Sport is a great turbine!!! been flying one in my 29 lb Fiber Classics Mig 15 all season and the power is simply amazing coming from this little beast
Hey Tommy where do you fly from? I will be back in Sydney soon and have been speaking to Dave Burns about suitable jet field options around town, Pitt town seemed the closest viable strip what do you reckon? my home club is WRCS
Cheers-

Very interested, and pleased! to hear your Supersport is flying your 29lb Mig well. What is your tank capacity and what sort of fuel burn are you getting on this airframe?

Hi John, I have 3 lt capacity between three tanks but plan on now using one of these for smoke as the SS will fly for about 8 1/2-9 min on 2 lt... Iam flying at very near full throttle for most of the flight with airspeed approx 120 mph and looking very scale, vertical is pretty good also and loop from level flight easily... I will have to get some flight video of it soon as it really amazes most when they here its flying on the little Wren

You can install the pump almost anyplace you need in your plane, as long you keep the header tank (uat) near it and away as possible from the RX, antenna and servos extensions. I also like to keep the fuel system, (main tank, pump, header tank and fuel lines) as low as possible in the airframe to minimize the chances of flooding the engine in case of a malfunction on the fuel solenoid. That is also why I always store the planes with the nose pointing down..(only exception
was the Kangaroo).

G'Day Marty,
I fly at Pitt Town. We have 900 ft and 700 ft runways. Grass but always very smooth. Large overfly area. Great jet field. I did my first jet flight there.
Seems like the Supersport will be great. Imust hurry up and finish it.
