Default Augmented thrust tube

I have been trying to find the drawings for the augmented thrust tube that Wren developed for their MW54.
The one that is supposed to add thrust. I want to make one for my Ziroli Panther. (Need all the thrust out of my 'ol 500 I can get..........

I tried Wren's web site and could not find it.............

Couldn't find it on the GTBA site either................

Anyone??????????????

I got some specs from Gudmund Malones (that he got from John Wright @ Wren) so I could build one for my Eurosport / Titan. If Gudmund doesn't chime in by the time I get off work, I'll try to find it and send it to you.

My Titan gained about 3 pounds of thrust on my test stand using the pipe I built.

Terry

Send Wrens an E-mail. Nowadays they make a series of standard thrust augmenters designed for different engine sizes and jet exhaust speeds, which you you can down to the length of your model. They are not very good about advertising their wares as they have quite a range. Each tube comes with its installation diagram. Very high speed/supersonic exhausts (such as the SuperSport) can genereate buffeting inside the tube and they have developed a slightly different and stronger design to cope with it.

If you send them the details of your model's requirement and the engine you plan to use - they are always very helpful.

I have scans of the four pages at about 2,000kb each. Is it ok by RCU to post scanned magazine pages - copyrighted material??

I think the link Dave posted answers the question or maybe I can e-mail the scans directly.

Makes perfect sense to me....Exhaust gasses expand when heated and the shape of the pipe aids in exhaust scavenging. The part of a tuned pipe where the pipe gets goes from a small diameter to a larger in diameter works the same way---Exhaust gasses are accelerated as the pipe gets larger. Brilliant!!!

What do you all think??? Is my conclusion all washed up???

Hi Gary, can you post dimensions/pics of your Titan pipe ?

Thanks, Rob.

86mm for the inlet and 95.5mm for the outlet with the taper section at 180mm long. These are the specs I got from Gudmund.

I don't think I took any pics of the pipe, but I'll check when I get home.

I would like to try out Mr Wright's design on a bifurcated pipe. It might be possible to build a bi-pipe with no thrust losses.
