Cheap jet retracts.

are you talking cheap or inexpensive? You could go with a standard set of mechanicals for under $100.00 or you could go with a standard set of Spring Air retracts and robarts at $180.00 and then there are the expensive stuff. What do you plan on putting these in?

going cheap is not a good way to go......
if you have a $150 plane, then yes cheap is fine, but if you are going to put the retracts into a jet, dont go cheap. the cheap ones just cant last long under all the stress and punishment from the jets.
what are you planning on putting the retracts into. maybe we can help direct you better

If you're on a tight budget, get a part time job earning the money and a little less time on RCU!

mikmaxx, Let me ask you this. You have posted many and I mean many posts here in just this jet forum. As for myself and others, we are always glad to help another pilot and also the new members who need help. Are you just curious about the jet models? Are your parents going to spend thousands of dollars for you to get a jet? Have you ever flown a radio control model? and if so what kind? I am asking because I myself am curious about your intentions.
Are you serious about getting into r/c flying? or just having fun and asking all of these questions? As for me, I am NOT being sarcastic, I am being very serious.

Ive wanted to get into rc models for as long as I can remember. The only reason I got into planes was to get into jets. Right now im learining to fly a trainer ive flown a couple park flyer and mastered them park flyers. Im as serius as a person could be as to getting into rc planes and just sold my car for 350 bucks. My only way of making money is to clean cars every once and a while and to baby sit my sister. As for my parents veiw on this hobby they say if im going to spend that much money I need to buy it my self so I truely respect it. Could you please anser the question I was asking about if those are good landing gear and if I could put brakes on the nylon wheel. Youve seen my veiw and no all about me so can you now anser my question?

mikmaxx,
I share your enthusiasm for jets. However, I think most guys here will agree, there is a huge difference in park flyers and jets.
Take your time. You will learn about all this stuff on your journey. Trainers and more advanced planes are a must before you take the plunge into the jet world. Try to hook up with a jet pilot in your area and learn all you can from him. Be a pit monkey for him and maybe catch a few jet meets.
To answer your question, no you can't put a decent brake on that wheel. And, 1/2 inch strut retracts would be better on a 19 lb jet.
Try Robart, or springair. You can get good quality wheels which have brakes at BVM, Trim, Century, etc. Best to look at the kit you will be getting and see what is recommended.
Good luck

You could probably use those gear in a Jet Hangar Hobbies kit, but why? Just get them from Jet Hangar Hobbies. Those gear use a 3/16 wire strut, to which you can fit a robart type strutt on. I wouldn't use them on anything over 12 -14 lbs.

I suggested this in post #7 and didn't phase him one bit.....:-((
Does he even know what jet he is looking at?
Why spec out LG when that even isn't answered...Oh I forgot...It is his "entertainment"!
