Eddie,
I am a bit confused about something. Is this just a friendly competition or is this a try out for something or another. Are you looking for a UAV design to use commercially? I know of a company that has designed this already and has the system working flawlessly and actually has 2 different size uav's that both fit your specifications if you are looking to purchase something.
Patrick.

Its a friendly competition where I will be checking the feasibility of autonomous flight. That is all.

Eddie, this UAV thing means that you can install a onboard camera on your plane and fly in a trailer or something? If so, this competition would be more a military style evaluation program, and that have some implications..,
I originally thinked that you mentioned UAV´s as a mere technicallity for us to have a sport competition in U.S. territory, and we are supposed to fly as normal r/c models.
And no flying buddies? that would be not fun!!!!
Best regards, Enrique

I have a flying buddy who works for a company that has fully autonomous uav's. I am talking about a system where a pilot launches the uav switches it over to a computer and it flys itself using full GPS to different waypoints designated by someone on the ground. They designed and market the whole system as a complete kit including computer terminal, gps software, and fully functioning UAV. If this is what you are looking for let me know and I will send him an email pointing him to this thread. They have sold systems to different agencies throughout the country. If I am way off in what you are looking for then I apologize and will not respond further.
