On the smaller side, Jet Central, formerly Artes Jet, introduced a 3 1/2 lb thrust turbine named The Flea! This thing is TINY!! I'll take pics tomorrow.

Don't want to sidetrack this thread, so we can start a new one if the answer to this question is anything other than simple - but are you saying that there's simply a name change of the whole Artes Jet "group" for whatever reason, or is this a divergence of one part of Artes from another (like when AMT became separate companies in each country etc) ?
Cheers,
Gordon

Is it just me or do the rest of you guys think that those big banner advertisements and runway accessories on the landing pattern at jet events should be allowed?
I would hate to see somebody plow their airplane into those clusters. They look awfully too close for comfort based on some of the pictures posted here already. See below for reference.

I would imagine they are alot further out then the pictures would indicate.

I’m going to keep my fingers crossed and wish all the pilots happy landings.

The Photographer may be on the far side of the runway shooting back towards the pilot line? Shouldn't matter much how big the banners are BEHIND the pilots

If the banners are facing the pilots then I agree with you Ben.....You might as well have a row of small trees out there.
It sure would increase the pucker factor if you had to make a wheels up landing in the grass...[X(] Could you imagine the outrage if there were trees out there instead of the signs?!?!?!???? (If the signs are facing the pilots)

From: Mexifornia,
Looks like they are in the same general area as the last two years I have attended. The only problem I have with the location is not landing, but low passes. Passes are supposed to be kept outside the edge of the runway (normal protocal for all Jet shows) wich makes it pretty tight here. I watched a bunch of pilots come real close to that thing on low flyby's (myself included), just gotta keep it up a little higher thats all. As for the landings, from what I remember they were plenty far off into the grass so if you used it to belly land it was not such a big deal.......however, the pictures do make it look closer then I remember it being when I was there. With that said, have fun and I cant wait to see the rest of the pictures. Weather looks fantastic, and as usual there appears to be a wide range of spectacular aircraft.
Congratulations to Joey "Sauzeech" Castelleo on the test flight of his incredible Airworld Cougar. I saw this plane in person in Arizona last month and have been salivating ever since.
Happy Flying,
Dave

AFAIC, those banners should not be there. They should be behind the flight line. Talk about accident waiting to happen.
Again, I wish all the pilots happy landings and as KG said, please be careful of Mr. Murphy.

From this pic the banners appear to be facing the pilots---And pretty close to the runway......

The rule at Florida jets is no low pass below 25 ft. The banners are helping reinforcing that. Plus, companies pay big sponsorship money to participate. With the banners there, most flight shots gets the advertising out. They are also further away than it looks like in the photos. if a pilot can't land without hitting the banners or barriers, they really should not be flying at a jet event anyway

Kenny, no I put the Panther in Sung's trailer and flew out. There were 16 planes packed into that trailer by the time they were done! Scott and his girlfriend drove it out here in 3 days!
I'm havig a blast! I've never seen this much money in one place before
!
Had 90 degree cross winds for most of the day, pretty stiff at times! Made landing INTERESTING!
There are some really incredible planes here.
More pictures!

More pics ENJOY!! RE: The Banners Guys you need to understand that photos taken with telephoto lens, as almost all of these are, compress the depth of field, ie things behind the focus point appear a lot closer than they actually are. Believe me, those banners are NO PROBLEM where they are!! As for the general rule of no flying below 25' here's my b*tch, someone needs to explain that to the BVM guys!! They were doing 200mph+ passes down the center of the runway less than 10' on more than one occasion, which frankly scared the hell out of me! I don't care how good of a pilot you are, radios lock out, and at that speed and altitude any problem results in mass mayhem & probably death for anyone within riccochet distance!![:@][:@]

Lol Ed... I remember it like it was yesterday and that is why I'm a little bit concerned about the close proximity of the banners. I consider my self a decent pilot and it that could happen way...way out there, how about when it is TOO CLOSE FOR CONFORT?
