Hi Wojtek,

OK I'll bite.

It's very small, the max rpm will be 250k rpm+ ?
That compressor wheel is the worst casting I've ever seen. I have blown better precision stuff out of my nose.

Okay, blow us one, toughguy! Let's see you whip up something around the same size! Fire it up, too! I'll be your first customer if you get it to run!

Is this going to be one of those "mine is smaller" contests? It's not how small you are, it's how you use it!

I'm still waiting for MIT to announce that they got this one to run. The whole package is about the size of a dime. The spool runs at 1.4 million rpm. Thrust to weight ratio is supposed to be around 100:1. As far as I know, they're still working on it.

Hello Paul

I was one week at MIT a month a go and could not get much information reg. this high speed turbine it looked like it was hibernating right now.
But I did see a proof of concept turbine with 50 % efficiency this will really be a step forward I think the best to day are Capstone with app 32-35 % .

Oh come on ET, can't you see it's something Woj's whipped up, just like his pube laminate.
The turbine wheel is impressive but the compressor sucks !

Must be a LARGE dime. 21 mm is 2 mm larger than 3/4 inch. more the size of a quarter. LOL

would mucus really hold up to the high rpm and tempertatures. that mini mini turbine must create the worlds most annoying sound. probably so high pitched that only dogs can hear it

Good point, Terry. One of the first articles I read about this was titled "Turbine on a Dime." I guess it was just the turbine/compressor they were referring to.

Hi Lars,

Thanks for the update. I have a feeling that the progress with fuel cells is pushing the small turbine to the back burner. One of the first applications was to generate power in a package about the size of pack of cigarettes (there I go with those size references again! [8D]).

That's BRILLIANT! No more having to carry around lighters or matches, they are built right into your pack of Dunhills! Just press a button, wait for spool-up to operating revs, then advance the throttle, and hit the re-heat, and light your smoke!
