I just searched the Hungarian News (English Speaking)
The following is listed
UPDATE2-Crashing model airplane kills two, hurts three (adds FOUR INJURED, details)
Budapest, May 13 (MTI) - Two people died and four others were injured when a model plane crashed into a crowd of spectators at an international model builders' show at Ocseny Airport, SW Hungary, on Saturday, police reported.
The accident was caused by a 2-2.5 metre-long, remote control model built by a German pilot that went down behind the fence into a group of spectators, organiser Gabor Biro told MTI on site. Two people died, a couple from nearby Szekszard, who had come to see the show with their grown-up children.
Four others were taken to a hospital in Szekszard with slight injuries, the ambulance services said.
It is assumed that the model became uncontrollable due to a technical interference problem, Chairman of the Hungarian Modelling Federation Andor Harmath told MTI.

Dreadful news. Awful.
Dreadful news. Awful.
it is terrible ,but this way it seems the jets are always to blame for something..
maybe its best to move this to somewhere more "neutral"

It is not clear at this point in time what kind of model was involved. See this link
http://english.mti.hu/default.asp?me...&newsid=219892
As this is a serious matter for all pilots who fly where others may be near enough to be affected by our actions and accidents I will refer this to the MODS Forum for a decision on if it should be moved and if so where.
As I write this I am thinking of the families involved.

the problem is not if is here in the jet is the right place or not..
the problem is how this bad news will be given, and understood outside the RC modeling community...
at least they specified, on a second release of the news that is maybe due to a interference...

Hey guys, this is also not jet related, but another tragedy. This past week in Guajataca Lake (Puerto Rico), a 10 years old kid was hit in the center of his chest by a 36" long, zenoa engine speed boat. This boy died in the way to the hospital. Now I read about 2 dead persons in Hungary also by RC model. So now we have 3 death caused by rc models in one week period. Our toys always are dangerous no matter if it is a plane, jet, car, boat or heli. Accidents happends, but we never know when and how.

I had already seen this information on a scale helicopter site. There is no mention of jet.
This is a terrible shame that reminds us that our hobby is dangerous, especially with the larger RC models albeit turbine plane, quickie 500, helicopter, boat, etc. We too often become complacent. Who knows maybe the guy got shot down. The pilot has to feel just awful.....I know I would.
I Think it is good that all forums see items like this to remind us of our responsibilites.

This event can only bring further attention to our sport and even worse, more legislation.
Very sad, but this could be the start of a difficult period for our sport.

Dreadful news.. I just saw the video of the bipe crashing in the crowd.. the pilot was arrested by the
police and a technical comission will examine the plane´s remains to try to determine the cause of the crash and investigate if it was interference or negligence of the builder wich was the pilot himself...

Truly awful news. I am sure some lessons are there to be learned to help avoid such tragedy for the future, but for now......
My thoughts with those family and friends left behind on what should have been a fun event,

Though not Jet’s related but we are going to let this on ride as a grim reminder of the consequences of our hobbies.
May the soul of the dead rest in peace, and I wish the wounded a speedy recovery and my prayers goes out to the pilot that will leave with this nightmare for the rest of his life.

I don't think this is a thread for speculation or criticism and would request that people respect the gravity of the incident. Whatever happened has resulted in horrific consequences.
My heart goes out to the families of those involved and the pilot.

This is really sad, the screeching sound during the rolls makes me think it could be a molded plane like a Comp-Arf Pitts, which is huge and is powered with 150-200cc engines. It is a scary reminder of what can happen at any modeling event or day at the field. I was at a fly-in yesterday where two quickie racers collided. One went down behind the flightline hard, but fortunately it was a good 40 feet from any person or property. I hope that this accident will not bring unwanted attention and further restrictions to our hobby.
