Default Problems with Vertical Hobbies...

All,

Has anyone other than me had problems with receiving merchandise from Mark LaCoste at Vertical Hobbies? I purchased almost $300 worth of product from him a few days before he put up his post about temporarily shutting down. We have had many email exchanges over this (since he charged my CC right away) but never shipped the items. I wrote him telling him I did not want the items anymore and he told me a story about him being away and the package being returned and reshipped it the same day I told him I did not want the items anymore.

Anyway, he no longer returns my emails and I am still waiting for my F-15 landing gear.

Mark, are you out there?

Mark is a straight up guy. If you ordered something you will get it. I have been dealing with Mark since day one. I have spent a good chunk of change with him and will continue to do so in the future. Like he stated in his post he is shutting down temporarily to reorganize after the buyout, and will be back bigger and better. Mark will take care of you.

Bubba,

I hope so. He did not hesitate to take my money, and almost 3 weeks later, no gear legs and no more email responses.

We will see.

Hey, no wall of flames? Whassup with that?

I can't stand the vertical hobbies guy, personally, but I doubt he would rip you off.

I read that they were going through some changes there, changing management or something, chances are they will come through for you in the end.

I hope you are correct, but so far, no landing gear and it's been almost 3 weeks.

You are right on all accounts!
At any rate, I put my two cents in, and it was hoping and thinking that all will work out fine.

Over and out.

Boli-

Thanks for posting your comments on here.

As I told you in the many e-mail exchanges, your original box was returned by USPS for an invalid postal code (not the first time this has happened to customers in the Southeast), for which I promptly resent at my cost (as I should be expected to do). As for the struts, I have no idea why they are taking that long to get to you, they were shipped to you also. As I also stated in my last e-mail to you, I would be more than happy to refund your entire purchase as soon as I received the items back. But in an effort to show you my sincererity, and to keep a customer happy, I will refund your money today and you can ship everything back at your earliest convenience.

To all who care......a little history-

Over the past five years, I have done my best to support the RC Jet community in any way I could. I did my best to become one of you and attended several events. I've had my ups and downs like everyone out there. I've met a lot of great guys, some which I consider very good friends (even if they are competitors).

Two years ago I partnered up with a friend and opened an online store very similar to our friend in Florida , and we've done pretty well at serving the community. What many don't realize is that this, like my friend in Florida, is a part-time job. I'm fortunate enough to be self employed in my primary vocation, and it allows me to be available during the day to answer calls.

Two months ago I bought out my partner, and it set me back a bit (I know, cry you a river ). This buy out hit at the wrong time as it turns out....Next week my wife goes in for the first of two surgeries and she'll be laid up for at least 10 weeks. It's not major surgery, but serious enough that it will take me away from everything else. I just figured that this would be a great time to reorganize Vertical Hobbies, expand our client base a little, and really grow the business.

One thing I've learned over the past two years is that no matter how hard you work for your customers, some guys are just never happy. I'm not saying that of the original poster of this thread, just the opposite for Boli, he's been very patient (and I thank you for that). The only reason I bring it up is because these guys are the reason that my wife & I are on the fence about reopening Vertical Hobbies at all. We have two young girls that have very active lives, and they will always come first. The stress created by dealing with the never happy customers makes me question why I ever did this, or if I should even open back up. Only time will tell...

For all of my valued vendors, customers and friends, I thank you for sticking by me!

Fly Safe, Fly Smart!
See you at the field...

You have been an honorable gentleman in my books. Best of luck to your wife and I hope for the sake of the good guys that appreciated what you did, you will continue providing the excellent services you have been known for as soon as time permits.

Take care and best regards

Mark,
Best wishes for a fast and painless recovery for your wife.
As you are finding out, this can be a very difficult business to run. It takes an enourmous amount of time, labor and patience. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide.
Regards,
Todd

Mark,

The recent rash of rip-off situations has, unfortunately, made it a bit more difficult for an honest and conscientious businessman like yourself to do business.

Although I've only had one transaction with you, I'm really looking forward to being one of your best customers...even better than that AkaBubba creep...LOL!

I hope everything gets taken care of so you can open up bigger'n'better than before. I'm certain that you'll be blessed with many happy and satisfied customers. And you know what that means...strongers cash flows and higher contest scores.

My thoughts are with you and your wife.

Thank you for your help in the past.

Bob

Mark - ship UPS or FedEx and get tracking numbers - I have a couple of "troubled" guys who make all kinds of radical claims on here, but when you have the paper, you have proof - no if's, and's or buts.

you will find that there are many on here that don't "like" you, and have never spoken to you or done any business - but the real hobby (to them) is to sit in a chat room and stir the stuff up and (or) spread lies about others. If you don't represent certain interests, you'll find a tough swim here sometimes - whether they know you or not.

Mark,

We don't kkow each other aand have not done business, I have seen your site and ads.

A bit of honesty and frankness can be a good thing. Those genuine guys who do this for a hobby and appreciate the "Cottageness" of the industry will use you again and again if you deliver the goods and quality and WILL support you when there is the odd hiccup.

The most precious things we have are family, and I wish you wife speedy and quality recovery, just getting over a shoulder op myself, but with a 14 year old son not two younger daughters, its a lot easier and only a few weeks.

I respect your post, and will take greater interest in your site over the next few months.

I had a problem with a deliver, and it was very frustrating, but it turned out to be a simple error compounded by the item going to my old address. I was patient, and it resolved to everyones satisfaction. The problem about the web is that we expect it all, now and instantly.

Patience is a virtue!!

Good luck with the reorganisation too, and Todd, Dennis, nice of you to come in and freely offer your support, I am glad to be your client too!!!

I've had great service from Mark even while I was stationed in Germany. Stuff sailed through customs. Try ordering in Europe. The big distributors only order from places like Japan or the US when they have enough orders to fill a shipping container. I waited 3 months for a receiver. We're pretty spoiled here.

Mark,

Thank you for replying and the best to your wife and her upcoming surgery. I have been in your shoes with ill spouses and it is very demanding. Good luck.

Now, I hope you also understand my concern over out last business exchange. I have done business with you in the past and you have always be courteous and prompt with my purchases. You have also spent large amounts of time with me on the phone steering me in the right direction with my projects and I appreciate that too. This last purchase started to worry me when nothing showed up. We had a few exchanges that were disappointing to me as I was waiting for my gear to get my -15 back in the air.

Anyway, you must understand my concern when all I was receiving was excuses as to why nothing had arrived, so I became worried...especially after you shut down. Then you stopped responding to my emails and that was it. While I did get my parts somewhere else, I will still accept them and gladly pay you for them...just please deliver.

In the meanwhile, one package has arrived with the hinger, Festo and trunions...thank you. The gear struts (the most expensive item too) are still MIA. Any idea on their wear abouts?

I did contact my CC company and they have put a hold on the purchase, and I hope you understand why I did this. I will gladly clear the hold when the struts arrive so please look into this.

Hopefully, soon this can be cleared up.

Boli-

Sent you a PM.

As stated above, all items were shipped, and a full refund was also processed yesterday (full info in the PM).

You can keep what you want, and ship the rest back at your convenience.

Best regards,
Mark

Hey Mark,

I hope everything works out for you guys.

On the topic of your business..... Remember, we were once chatting about 9C radios...? I told you I was looking for one and you said you'd match any price I found. I found a what I considered to be an exceptional deal at the time, and I honestly didn't expect you to match it. On top of that, you threw in a second frequency module later on, just because you couldn't get the channel I needed initially! That's exceptional customer service...

I like your style and hope you do continue because I'll buy from you again. If you decide not to contiinue, the jet communinty should be greatfull for what you've done since it takes well versed and knowlegable retilers like yourself, Todd in Florida, Ed in Ontario etc. to make a highly technical area of the hobby like this as sucessfull as it is.

Good luck.
