I'm pretty sure with the $40 difference in price, I could find/make an adapter that will fit the fittings of the air system on my jet.

I bought a couple of those. Mine came with a short piece of air hose with a quick connector (flip style) for valve stems. I put a needle valve for filling basketballs or volleyballs in the end of it and then a piece of regular BVM air line onto the needle valve. Works good in a pinch but it is very slow to pump up 100 pounds of air in the tank.

I've been doing what Richard mention since I started in turbine jets. I used my old 12v tire compressor and cut the end off an air needle used for filling footballs, etc. Slide the air tubing over the needle and you're ready to inflate retracts and brakes.

Thanks for posting the one from Auto Barn. I'm going to order one myself.

How much is the adapter? Maybe less than $10....

Just did a quick Google search and found this: http://www.fittingsandadapters.com/maleconnector1.html

Not sure what size will fit the gun but I'm sure that it won't be too difficult to find one.

You don't need an adapter. The compressor comes with a needle for filling basketballs etc (see picture). The fitting on the compressor is a compression type fitting that has a rubber donut in it that tightens down on the threaded end of the needle. So you simply slide a piece of air line over the end of the needle (it's just the right size) with the fitting for your fill valve on the other end.

The down side is that when threading in the fitting into your fill valve you have to rotate the entire rig or remove the needle from the compressor. Still a lot faster to fill the tanks than a hand pump.

Richard-RCU : are your sure yours doesn't have a leak, mine will hit 100 pounds in a large retract can in under 10 seconds, probably closer to 5.

yup the basketball needle works great here's a picture that a buddy of mine took while I was airing up my system. I use a $19.99 pipe I got from Target for airing up bicycle tires and it works great.

Easy to adapt! Take that basketball adapter and pull the needle out. Drill out to just clear the airline diameter, push the irline through. Take a plastic airline T and cutoff two legs, plug the airline on - the T stub prevents the airline from pulling out of the fitting. Insert your new adapter in the rubber sleeve - work it in to the pump and screw on the cap. The fit is a little tight and fiddly but it seal perfectly, flows much more air than simply plugging the airline on the end of the needle...

Thanks for the link. I saw the same thing in a different color (silver) at Costco.com for $37.99 before shipping. Mine is on the way from AutoBarn for 37.90 with shipping.

With regard to "adapting" the connector, I must be missing something. Why can't we just clip the supplied connector onto the fill valve just like on a tire? Is there a need for a screw type fitting?

Regards,

John

Hi John,
The supplied tire connector works with the bvm filler and others. Some will have to use the small air needle to adapt to their own setup but there is nothing else to buy. I own (2) Vector units and they are awesome. V..
