Id also add that a model in good trim helps a hell of alot. On maidens ive had models which have been either very nose or tail heavy and then they are a real swine to land, well gracefully anyway. Particularly if you find yourself running out of trim or even pitch control at low speed on approach [&o]. But best techniques for maiden flights are probably another thread entirely. All advice here assumes model is in good trim.
