Hey guys, just finished painting this thing. Weathering came out pretty good for a first attempt.

Not to brag or anything, but this is one of the most realistic looking Falcons I've ever seen. Not the best looking, just the most realistic. Notice the Block 60 cockpit

Dave, great lookin Falcon!!! Mine is still on the back burner, unfortunately. Is this one turbine powered or ducted fan? I'm guessing fan power because I didn't notice a turbine pipe on the tail end, but I could be wrong. Now, with regards to being realistic...when was the last time you saw a real Falcon with the Puerto Rican flag on the rudder??? LMAO!!! Nothing against Puerto Ricans, my wife is Puerto Rican and my son is half Puerto Rican (i'm Dominican)....but C"MON!!!! HAHAAAAAAAA...On the real though, show it with pride baby, it looks awesome!!!! Has it maidened yet? Keep us posted dude.... Regards,

Richie

Richie, the last time I saw an F-16 with the PR marking was when I was an Avionics Tech with the Puerto Rico Air National Guard. We had 22 F-16's ADF's and used to kick ass out of the Colombian and Dominican drug smugglers but it never made any news because of course, no leftovers where ever found (AIM-9X vs Hatteras 45').
Gald you liked it!
Yes it was fan, now it's upt to the new owner to put whatever in it. Trubine conversion is a joke for this one. It flew gerat as DF.

Jeff, where the hell have you been bro? Ha,ha,ha nothing under the hood right now, used to be a Ramtec. I just bought a Balsa Bandido so i will be busy for the enxt 5 years while I finish it. Welcome back.

Buck, you back yet? I sent in my waiver paperwork Saturday, so very soon I will be joining the daily vultures at Thunderbird. Your own garage, that sounds dangerous!!

Eddie, paint is Testor's Model Masters Acrylic, Light Ghost Gray, Gunship Gray and Dark Ghost Gray (FS color perfect match). Used a Pasche Double Action Airbrush and about 12 bottles of Testor's. Excellent coverage and so easy to use. I apinted the whole model (less weathering) in about 1.5 hours. The paint dries to touch in about 30 seconds, 5 if use a heat gun.

Gald you all like it. Hopefully many more to come.

David

Did you clear coat it with the Testors clear, or did you use a more fuel proof PPG clear? What about the graphics - what type - dry transfer or decals, etc? Sorry for so many Q's Again, very nice work!

Pdero Muriente, no jodas? Is that you?

That is your Falcon on those pics!! I do have your name on a decal that was supposed to be placed on the nose gear door, but I opted for the 50th Anniversary decal.
Wow, la vieja guardia. We had some good times. I used to work next door from you at Comm/Nav (under "El Nene").

Saludos,

Pinky "Rosado"

Eddie, I used Top Flite Flat Clear. What I do is I warm the can using a Heat gun (but not too much) then shake it a lot and it comes out very even. I apply several light mist coats, then e heavy one, then wet sand using 1000 grit.

Wow that's great. I've never used the stuff in the cans before, I've always airbrushed with my dual action gun, but I don't think you can get the TF clear in bottles. Have you ever used TF clear over decals like the Tailormade Decals www.tailormade.com - or were your details vinyl, or dry transferrs?

I have a model that needs a clear coat and I used a custom set of decals from Tailormade and they recommend two part clears, like auto clears or PPG over the decals.

Eddie, these decals are Aeroloft Dry Transfers, I used the TF can stuff all the time. I used it over Tailormade decals by Ralle as well. If you look on my Gallery, there is an Israeli F-16 with Tailormade Decals and TF Flat Clear over them. You just have to be careful not to use heavy coats on the 1st 2~3 runs. Use only fine mist and a lot of patience.
I assume PPG would do a better job with less coats, but for this project it made no economical sense to use it. I also paint in my garage and I am very afraid of Isoscites (the stuff on PPG that'l kill you).

Ronnie, I know all about your Falcon!!
Is it at home already? Let me guess, Artes Super Bee.

Tell me about it! A local full scale experimental builder guy was killed with this type of paint a few years ago and I'm pretty gun shy about it in my "garage" paint booth and simple charcoal respirator, especially with my family one wall and door away. We work with some pretty hostile chemicals in this "hobby" of ours [X(]

Alex where is my free smoke pump?

man you got to tell your boss to start makin stuff for jet use, how about a Genesys for turbine? You got any idea how many Lipos you could charge just on one flight?
Probably like 50~60 megawatts or something. duh-dduh-duh fire-fire!

Welcome to RCUjets Alex. We will make sure you go broke in no time like the rest of us. Two, three mortagages are normal.

Gad to see somebody who really makes a living out of our vice.

Your Smoke Pump? They are building one just for you, custom made!

Yeap, a few more CCS, mortgages, heck the whole package!

We are working on a new onboard glow driver, though not quite for jet use!!!

Keep flying,
